Coast Guard Assistant Commandant (Technical)

Twice every year the Coast Guard, and Armed Force on the Union, offers excellent opportunity for Engineering graduates to become a Class I Gazetted Officer as Assistant Commandant (Technical). The recruitment is done twice a year for courses beginning in the months of January/February and July.

Age limit for Coast Guard Assistant Commandant-Technical exam:

21 to 30 years as on July 1 of the year of admission (35 years for SC/ ST). Ex-Servicemen are eligible for relaxation of upper age limit as admissible.

Minimum Educational Qualification for Coast Guard Assistant Commandant-Technical:
The candidate should
  • Possess a Degree in Naval Architecture/Mechanical/Marine/Electrical/Telecommunication/ Electronics/Design/ Production/ Aeronautical/Control Engineering or equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognised by the Institute of Engineers (India) or Marine, Engineering Graduates of IMET Calcutta. OR
  • Possess Govt of India, Ministry of Surface Transport certificate of Competency as I Class Engineer of Motorship or other similar certificate recognised by the Government. OR
  • Possess final passing out examination certificate of the College of Marine Engineering under the Deptt of Surface Transport, Govt of India. OR
  • Have passed Sections'A' and 'B' of Institute of Engineers (India) examination in any the disciplines listed at Serial No (i) above.
Physical Standards for Coast Guard Assistant Commandant-Technical:

(a) Height: Minimum 157 cms (May be reduced by 5 cms in the case of Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese (including those from Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura), Garhwalese, Sikkimese, Local tribals of AQdaman and Nicobar Islands, and by 2 cms, in case of candidates from Laccadives, mainland settlers in Andaman and Nicobar and candidates joining the Coast Guard as secondment from other Government Departments.

(b) Weight: Proportionate to height and age. The correlated weight should not however, vary from the average by more than 10%.

(c) Chest: Should be well proportioned. Minimum expansion 5 cms.

(d) Eye Sight: 6/12 (good eye) and 6/36 (bad eye).


How to Apply

Application on plain paper in the prescribed proforma as and when published in the Newspapers along with required documents must be sent to the Director (Training), Recruitment Cell, Coast Guard Headquarters, National Stadium Complex, Purana Quila Road, New Delhi-ll000l Under Postal Certificate (UPC) only by the mentioned last date.

Other Information

Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examinations, NCC/Sport attainments, etc. Additional weightage will be given to the candidates with NCC/Sports attainments, son of serving Am1ed Forces personnel/Ex-Servicemen at the time of shortlisting. Shortlisted candidates will be called to appear before the Preliminary/Final Selection Board, New Delhi, during the month of May for the course beginning in the month of following January/ February and during the month of November for the course beginning in the month of July of the forthcoming year. The selected candidates will be on probation for two years or till completion of training whichever is later.
