Tips for the test
All the questions are in multiple-choice format, so if you don’t know the answer than try to guess

There is no negative marking for the wrong answer. Also, since you have to give an answer in order to proceed to the next question, guessing may be necessary.

The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is different from most other customary examinations you must have taken. You can choose your own date and time for taking the GMAT. Syllabus

It is a four-hour exam with a multiple-choice question format and a maximum score of 800. The test has three distinct sections: Analytical Writing Ability, Quantitative and Verbal.

In the analytical writing section, one needs to write two short essays in thirty minutes each. The first is the analysis of an issue, while the second essay is an analysis of an argument. A five-minute break follows the two essays. The breaks are optional but an applicant has to utilize the break by gearing up for the tougher sections that follow.

In the quantitative sections, there are two kinds of problems: Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving. Total of 37 questions are to be done within 75 minutes.

In the Verbal Section, there are 41 questions which need to be answered within 75 minutes. This section requires the basic skills of correct English coupled with reasoning and analysis. The Verbal section has three types of question: Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.

How to give the test?

First, you have to register yourself at www.mba.com. In India, there are nine test Centres including Chennai, September to December is the high season for Graduate Management Admissions Test GMAT, so in case you intend to take the test during this period, you need to register very early (say 90 days in advance) to get a date of your choice.

The cost of the exam is $260. The Graduate Management Admissions Test GMAT scores can be sent to a maximum of five universities / B. Schools of your choice. For sending the scores to each additional university, an extra $25 has to be paid. That is why. It is recommended that you do some homework on which universities you are finally going to apply, based on the score that you expect to attain.

The test scores are valid for five years. You can take the test a maximum of five times in a year but restricted to once a month.
