Staff Selection Commission holds a combined examination for making recruitment to the posts of Junior Hindi Translators in the Ministries/Departments/Offices of the Govt of India allover the country in the following two Categories:

Category A:
(a) Hindi Translators in the Central Secretariat Official Language Service.

(b) Junior Hindi Translators in Armed Forces Headquarters Service.

Category B:
Junior Hindi Translators in the Subordinate Offices like the All India Radio,
Doordarshan Kendras, Central Excise, Income Tax, etc.

Age limit

Not exceeding 30 years as on January/August 1 of the year of examination. Relaxation in upper age limit is as per rules available.

Minimum Educational Qualification

Minimum Educational Qualifications (as on specified date of the year of the examination): Master's Degree in Hindi/English, with English/Hindi as a compulsory and elective subject at the degree level; OR Bachelor's degree with Hindi and English as main subjects (which includes the term compulsory and elective).

Other Releated Information Regarding Eligibility Conditions

NOTE:
(i) Most of the Posts in Category (A) are in the Central Govt Offices located at Delhi whereas the posts in Category (B) are in the Subordinate Offices spread all over the country.

(ii) All posts have All-India Service liability.

NOTE: Those candidates who have passed BA (Hons) on English/Hindi with Hindi/ English as subsidiary/MIL subject are eligible for the post for Jr. Hindi Translators.

Examination Fee

Rs 50/-. No fee for SC/ST/PH/Ex-S. The fee is payable by means of 'Central Recruitment Fee Stamps'. Fee can also be paid through Crossed Indian Postal Orders.

Plan of Examination

1. Paper - I
Subjects - Objective Type
(a) General Hindi
(b) General English
Duration - 2 Hours
Marks - 200 Marks

2. Paper - II
Subjects - Conventional Type: Translation - 4 passages, 2 each from Hindi to English and vice versa
Duration - 2 Hours
Marks - 200 Marks

Other Information Regarding Plan of Examination: Note I: There will be no viva-voce test.

NOTE II: All candidates have to appear in both the papers mentioned above.

NOTE III: The Commission have the discretion to fix the minimum qualifying standard in each of the papers of the Written Examination for General, SC and ST , Ex-S, PH and departmental candidates.

NOTE IV : Paper II of Written Examination shall be evaluated of only those candidates who attain a minimum qualifying standard in Paper I as may be fixed at the discretion of the Commission.

Interivews Test/ Personality Test Selection is made on the basis of the merit list.
