Chinese Government Scholarship 2011 for Canadian Students
The Chinese Government Scholarships (CGS) are made possible through an agreementbetween the Ministry of Education of the Peoples Republic of China and the British Columbia Ministries of Education and Advanced Education and Labour Market Development.
The British Columbia Ministries are responsible for the recruitment of students and recommends candidates to the China Scholarship Council (CSC) who then evaluate and approve qualified candidates.
Categories of Applicants and Duration of CGS Scholarship 2011 :
- Masters Degree Students
- Doctoral Degree Students
- Chinese Language Students
- General Scholars
- Senior Scholars
All undergraduate studies will be conducted in the Chinese Language. Remedial Chinese language studies will be arranged for 1-2 years prior to major studies for students who do not have command of the Chinese language.
Doctoral and master degree students will not be required to take remedial Chinese language studies for courses conducted in English. The duration of the scholarship is set at the time of admission.
Application Deadline for CGS Scholarship 2011
The deadline for receiving applications for the 2010 academic year (commencing September 2011) is January 31, 2011.

Each year up to 5 full-time or 10 part-time scholarships are available.
Online Application for CGS Scholarship 2011 :
A new online application component has been added by the China Scholarship Council. It must be filled in by each applicant.
A copy of the application is to be included in the package being sent to the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools. The Agency Number for British Columbia applicants is 1242.
