Suitable single-seated hostel accommodation or HRA as per rules of the University/Institution or HRA as per categorisation of the cities by the Government of India

Disbursement
Administered by the Host Institution where the Fellow is registered for MPhil/ PhD
Monitoring of Progress
Progress is monitored by the concerned supervisor and Head of Department. A six-monthly progress report duly signed by the supervisor, head of department and registrar is to be submitted by the end of the month of June and December
Selection Procedure
Applications should be sent to Indian Embassies and Missions. These will be locally screened before being sent to the UGC for consideration
Eligible foreign students studying in India who have completed their Master’s degrees and desire to pursue research may send their applications through the University they propose to work with. The application will have to be endorsed by their respective embassies in India for consideration by the Commission
The Selection Committee constituted by the UGC makes the selections from among the applications short-listed by the screening committee also constituted by the Commission. A provisional intimation of selection is sent to the candidate. The formal award letter is issued only on receipt of political clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India
