Admission for Ph.D. - Session 2008-2009

A competitive written examination on all India basis for admission to the Ph.D. Program in the following disciplines will be held at IVRI. Izatnagar (U.P.) on 6th July. 2008 (Sunday).

The successful candidates in the written examination will have to appear in an interview to be held on 11th and 12th August. 2008 (Monday and Tuesday) as per schedule given in the Information Bulletin at I.V.R.I. Izatnagar.

However sponsored candidates for admission into Ph.D and M.V.Sc degree programme are exempted from written examination.

The candidates for admission to PhD degree programme must have MVSc degree in the concerned discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or OGPA 7.00/10.00 or equivalent (55% marks or OGPA 645/10.00 or equivalent for S.C./S.T.)

(B) M.V.Sc. Degree Programme:

The candidates for admission to Master's programme must have Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science as specified by the Veterinary Council of India Act with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC/ST or sponsored candidates) or equivalent OGPA 6.50/10.0 for general and 6.00/10.0 for SC/ST. or sponsored candidates.

• A good knowledge of English language
• Minimum age for admission into Ph.D. and M.V.Sc shall be 23 years and 21 years, respectively. Normally there will be no upper age limit. The age shall be reckoned as on 1st September, 2008.

How To Apply:-

1. Information Bulletin 2008-2009 along with application form can be had personally from the University Office of the institute on production of a bank draft/banker's cheque of Rs.300/- drawn in favour of "I.C.A.R. Unit IVRI. Izatnagar payable at State Bank of India.

Officer (Academic), I.V.R.I, lzatnagar-243 122 (U.P.) along with a crossed bank draft of Rs.375/- drawn in favour of "I.C.A.R,. Unit IVRI. Izatnagar payable at State Bank of India. CARI Branch (Code No. 7027). Bareilly (U.P.)".

2. The Application Form and Information Bulletin are also made available on website: www.ivri.nic.in. The candidates should send Bank Draft / amounting to Rs.800/- (for General candidate) and Rs.700/- (for SC/ST candidate) alongwith the downloaded Application Form (Rs.300/- as the cost of the Information Bulletin and Application Form fee Rs.500/- and Rs.400/-for general and SC/ST candidates respectively.

Note:-

1. The candidates who have appeared in the Master's degree examination in the year 2008 are a\so eligible to apply provisionally for admission but they will have to submit documentary proof of their successful completion of qualifying degree examination on the date of registration. However, the candidates will be required to submit documentary proof of his/her successful completion of course work, including final OGPA duly signed by the competent authority at the time of interview positively.
2. 15% and 7.5% & 3% seats are reserved for S.C. / S.T. & Physically Handicapped candidates respectively, subject to their being otherwise eligible.
3. The reservation for OBC will be made applicable as per Government of India / ICAR directives.
4. There is a provision of payment of IVRI Scholarship to the selected candidates for Ph.D degree programme @ Rs.10,500/- p.m. for three years subject to fulfillment of conditions of award of fellowship/scholarship. The IVRI Scholarship wilt be granted to only those selected candidates who come through Entrance Test and not to the Sponsored candidates.
5. The candidates seeking admission for PhD / MVSc degree programmes at this Institute as sponsored candidates should be on deputation terms entitling them for full salary and allowances.
6. Postal delay in any matter concerning admission will not be the responsibility of the Institute.

The candidates who are sponsored by their Departments for M.V.Sc degree programme can also apply in response to this Admission Notice. Information Bulletin* may be consulted for further details about the disciplines offering M.V.Sc degree programmes and other matters. Sponsored candidates for M.V.Sc degree programme shall have to appear in the interview on the dates as notified above.
