City College Kolkata Admission Eligibility 2019
For all students intending to apply
- Only candidates passing out HS / Equivalent Examination in 2017 and 2018 are eligible to apply.
- Candidates should pass in English in a 100 Marks Paper.
Criteria for General Category Applicants intending to take BA, BSc Honours
A candidate intending to take up Honours course in a subject must have obtained :
- A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate ( Calculated by adding the marks in top four subjects in order of marks secured by a student ) and 45% in the subject or related subject ( List of Related Subjects ) at the previous qualifying examination.
- 55% marks in the subject or related subjects
- 50% marks in the aggregate, when the subject is not studied. ( Students willing to switch over from Science or Commerce to Humanities )
- Marks in compulsory Environmental Education / Studies will not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject Environmental Science is studies as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken in to account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
BCom Honours
- A minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate ( Calculated by adding the marks in top four subjects ( except environmental studies ) in order of marks secured by a student ) and 60% marks in the concerned subject or related subject ( See List of Related Subjects ) at the previous qualifying examination.
Criteria for SC / ST Category BA, BSc, BCom Applicants
A candidate intending to take up Honours course in a subject must have obtained :
- A minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subject ( List of Related Subjects ) at the previous qualifying examination.
Special Conditions for Admission in different Honours Courses
- Mathematics ( Honours ) – Candidates must pass in Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.
- Chemistry ( Honours ) – Candidates must pass in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.
- Physics ( Honours ) – Candidates must pass in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at the previous qualifying examination.
- Economics ( Honours ) – Candidates must pass in Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.
- Physiology ( Honours ) – Candidates must pass in Biology / Biotechnology and Chemistry at the previous qualifying examination.
- Botany ( Honours ) – Candidates must pass in Biology / Biotechnology and Chemistry at the previous qualifying examination.
- Zoology ( Honours ) – Candidates must pass in Biology / Biotechnology and Chemistry at the previous qualifying examination.
Criteria for Admission in General course of studies
General Category Candidates
- B.A. ( General ) – Pass marks in aggregate and pass marks in subjects, he / she intends to study.
- B.Com ( General ) – Pass marks in aggregate and passed the subject ( s ) at the previous qualifying examination as mentioned below :
- Accountancy / Business Economics including Business Mathematics / Business Organization / Mathematics / Economics / Statistics / Commerce / Accounts / Business Studies / Financial Accounting / Office and Secretarial Practice / Elements of Cost Accountancy and Auditing / Book Keeping / Business Mathematics / Cost Accountancy & Principle of Management.
- B.Sc. General ( Physical Sc.) – Pass marks in aggregate and pass marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.
- B.Sc. General ( Bio Sc.) – Pass marks in aggregate and pass marks in Biology at the previous qualifying examination.

How to apply
The application process for the undergraduate courses offered by the institute is online. Candidates seeking admission need to follow following steps to apply online.
- Visit the official website of City College, Kolkata.
- Fill the application form correctly.
- If a candidate wants to apply for more than one subject, separate application forms are needed to be filled.
- Make payment of ₹ 200/- ( bank charges extra ) through online payment services or at any branch of SBI.
- Candidates need not send a print out of the application form to the college.
- Candidates who find a place in the merit list need to appear for counseling to confirm the admission.
- Documents to be produced at the counseling :
- Print out of Application Form with photographs and signatures.
- Proof of payment of Admission Fees.
- Passing certificate of HSC and SSC.
- Mark sheets of Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent Examinations.
- Caste Certificate ( if applicable ).

B.Sc ( Hons. ), BA ( Hons. ) and B.Com ( Hons ) : Selection is on the basis of merit list which is prepared considering aggregate marks ( marks in Best 4 ) + Marks in concerned subject.
B.Sc ( General ), BA ( General ) and B.Com ( General ) : Selection is through Aggregate marks in best of four subjects.
