JNU University Eligibility 2019

UG

  • B.A ( Hons ) 1st  year : 12th  or equivalent exam with minimum 45% marks. Appearing candidates can also apply.
  • B.A ( Hons ) 2nd year : 1st  year of any bachelor degree or any equivalent with minimum 45% marks Candidates must have adequate proficiency in the concerned language.

PG

  • M.A ( Persian, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Chinese & French ) : Bachelor degree or equivalent in any stream with minimum 45% marks Candidates must have adequate proficiency in the concerned language.
  • M.Sc ( Life Sciences ) : B.Sc. or B.Tech or equivalent in Biological, Physical or Agricultural Sciences or Biotechnology. At least 55% marks.
  • M.A  ( Economics ) : Bachelor degree or equivalent in any stream with minimum 50% marks Must have knowledge of 10+2 level mathematics
  • M.C.A : Bachelor degree in any discipline with a good knowledge of mathematics. Minimum 55% marks required.
  • M.Tech ( Computer Science and Technology ) : Master’s degree in Computer Science,  Statistics,  Mathematics, Operational Research, any branch of Science, any branch of Engineering, MCA Minimum 55% marks required. P.G. holders of AYUSH related subjects are also eligible to apply.
  • M.Tech (  Statistical Computing ) : Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research or in any branch of Science, Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering, MCA Candidates must have 55% marks in the qualifying exam.

JNU University Exam Pattern 2019

UG

  • B.A ( Hons ) 1st  year : Question paper will be asked in English language. Questions will be both objective and subjective type. Exam will be conducted in offline mode.
  • B.A ( Hons ) 2nd year : The question paper will be subjective. Topics will be asked form grammar, literature, etc. of the respective language.

PG

  • M.C.A : Objective type questions. 1 mark will be given for correct answer.
  • M.Tech ( Computer Science and Technology ) : 100 multiple choice questions asked in the exam. 1 mark will be awarded for correct answer. 0.25 mark deducted for wrong answer.
  • M.Tech ( Statistical Computing ) : Comprises of two parts, i.e. Part A & Part B. 100 multiple choice questions. 1 mark will be awarded for correct answer. 0.25 mark deducted for wrong answer.
  • M.A ( Economics ) : Question paper pattern will be objective and subjective both. Part A will contain objective type questions and Part B will contain short and long problems / questions.
  • M.Sc ( Life Sciences ) : There will be objective-type with multiple choice answers. Each question carries equal mark.

JNU University Application form 2019

  • JNU University UG / PG Application form details will be  available at the official website :www.jnu.ac.in.
  • Applications will be invited only through online mode.
  • Candidates can apply upto a maximum of three fields of study of their choices.
  • JNU admission form will be released from the third week of September 2018.
  • Students are required to upload the scanned images of photograph and signature in prescribed format.
  • The university will also provide the JNU Application correction facility in the application form.
  • There is no need to send the printout of the filled in application form to the university.

Application Fee

  • Students can pay the application fee through online mode only.
  • Payment will be done via debit card, credit card and net banking.

JNU University Admit card 2019

  • The JNU 2019 admit card will be provided to students through online mode. It will be released in the second week of December 2018.
  • Candidates have to bring admit card along with a latest passport size photograph at the exam centre. Only those candidates will be permitted to appear for the exam whose names appear in the Roll List available with the JNU Representative(s).

JNU University Syllabus 2019

  • BA ( Hons ) 1st  year in Foreign Languages : It will contain questions from general knowledge, artificial language, short essays on issues related to the subject.
  • M.C.A : General aptitude, reasoning and 10+2 and Bachelor’s level mathematics and Computer Science.
  • M.Tech ( Computer Science and Technology ) : General aptitude, reasoning and Bachelor’s/Master’s level Mathematics and Computer Science.
  • M.Tech ( Statistical Computing ) : The part A will comprises of General aptitude, reasoning, and Bachelor’s / Master’s level mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. Part B will contain topics from data science / data communication stream.
  • M.A ( Economics ) : It will contain topics like Micro-economics, Descriptive Statistics, Problems of Economic History, Underdevelopment and Growth, etc.
  • M.Sc ( Life Sciences ): No specific syllabus designed. Students can follow the UGC approved syllabus in their respective subjects for guidance.

JNU University Results 2019

  • JNUEE result 2019 will be declared in the 4th week of February, 2019 for viva voice courses. After the completion of viva a merit list will be prepared.
  • JNU merit list will be published in the month of March 2019 for other courses and April 2019 for viva voice courses. Candidates will be able to check their results through online mode only.

JNU University Counselling 2019

  • JNU admission process will be started from the month of  July 2019. Students can apply for admission according to their obtained rank or merit.
  • Candidates whose name will appear in the merit list have to register for admission. Students also have to pay the seat acceptance fee at the time of registration for admission. The fee will be [rupee] 295 /- for Ph.D., M.Phil./Ph.D, [rupee]10,174.50 for PGDE, [rupee]283 /- for M.A. / M.Sc. / M.C.A, B.A. ( Hons. ) and [rupee]234 /- for part time courses.
  • Candidates are required to bring the necessary certificates along with photocopies at the time of admission.

JNU Delhi PhD Admission Eligibility 2018

  • For School of International Studies : Only those candidates shall be considered for Direct JNU Delhi admission to the PhD Program who have ( a ) obtained MPhil degree of a recognized University / Research Institution with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.00 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. degree from a University / Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10 – point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. dissertation along with the JNU Delhi PhD Admission Application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials; OR ( b ) at least 2 years research experience in reputed institutions with research publication ( s ) comparable to M.Phil. standard. In addition, they should have obtained Master’s Degree with FGPA of 6.00 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage.
  • For Centre for International Trade & Development : The candidate should have ( i ) M.Phil. in Economics / International Trade and Development with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.0 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. degree from a University / Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10 – point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. dissertation along with the Application Form for the purpose of easement of their credentials; OR ( i ) Masters degree in Economics with FGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage and at least 2 years research experience in reputed institutions with research publication ( s ) comparable to M.Phil. standard. Students admitted to the Direct Ph.D. Program are required to do course work.
  • For Human Rights Studies program : ( a ) obtained M.Phil. or equivalent degree of a recognized University / Research Institution in the field of human rights or ailed areas with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.0 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. degree from a University / Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10 – point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. dissertation along with the Application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials; OR ( b ) at least 2 years research experience in reputed institutions with research publication ( s ) comparable to M.Phil. standard in the field of Human Rights. In addition, they should have obtained Master’s Degree with FGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage.
  • For Energy Studies program : ( a ) obtained M.Phil. degree of a recognized University/Research Institution in the field of energy studies or alied areas with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.0 in 10 point scale/comparable standard where grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. degree from a University/Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10-point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. dissertation along with the application form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials; OR (b) at least 2 years research experience in reputed institutions with publication ( s ) comparable to M.Phil. standard in the field of energy studies. In addition, they should have obtained Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Defence / Strategic Studies or Area Studies with FGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage. Students admitted to direct Ph.D. program in energy studies are also required to do compulsory course work.
  • School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies : Only those candidates shall be considered for Direct JNU Delhi admission to the PhD Program who have ( a ) obtained M.Phil degree of a recognized University / Research Institution with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.00 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale.   • School of Computer & Systems Sciences : The candidates interested in research in Communication Networks. Data Warehouse, Software Engineering, Service Oriented Architecture, Wireless Communication, Ad Hoc Networks, Sensor Network, Data Mining, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, Database, Soft Computing, Text Mining, Web Mining, Natural Language Processing, will be considered for Direct Admission to Ph.D. program this year.
  • School of Physical Sciences : Candidates shall be considered for Direct admission to the Ph.D. program on the following basis : ( a ) M. Phil. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree from a recognized University / Research Institutions with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.0 in a 10 – point scale / comparable standard where the grading  is based on systems other than a 10 – point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. / M.Tech. degree from a University / Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10-point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. / M.Tech. dissertation along with the Application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials. OR ( b ) At least 2 years’ research experience in a reputed institution with research publication ( s ) comparable to the M.Phil. standard. In addition, they should have obtained a M.Sc. degree with FGPA of 6.0 in a 10 – point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage. ( c ) They should also satisfy the academic background criteria specified in Category I below.
    • Pre – Ph.D. / Ph.D. Program
  • Category I ( Through Entrance Examination )
    a) For Physical Sciences, M.Sc. degre in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, with at least 5% marks. Candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had Mathematics at least up to the B.Sc. level. Exceptions can be made in case of aplicants with B.Tech. ( Electronics / Electrical ) degrees provided they successfully qualify the entrance examination.
    b) For Chemical Sciences, M.Sc. degree in Chemistry or Physics, with at least 5% marks. Candidates majoring in Chemistry should have specialization in Analytically / Organic / Inorganic / Physical Chemistry / Chemical Physics / Polymer Chemistry at the Master’s level.
    c) For Mathematical Sciences, M.Sc. degree in Mathematics, with at least 5% marks.
  • School of Computational and Integrative Sciences : Only those candidates in science / Engineering branch shall be considered for Direct JNU Delhi Admission to the Ph.D. program who have ( a ) Obtained M.Phil / M.Tech. degree in the related field like science, engineering, medical and pharmaceutical science from a recognized university / research institution with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.00 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidate who have obtained M.Phil degree from a University / Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10 points scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil dissertation along with the JNU Delhi PhD Admission Application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials. OR ( b ) At least 2 years research experience in reputed institutions in the related fields with research publication ( s ) comparable to M.Phil standard. In addition, they should have obtained Master’s Degree in the related field with FGPA of 6.00 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage. OR ( c ) Candidates with Advanced Diploma ( after M.Sc. degree ) in Bioinformatics are also eligible if they secure minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.00 in 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage.
  • School of Arts & Aesthetics : Only those candidates shall be considered for Direct admission to the Ph. D. Program who have ( a ) obtained M.Phil degree of a recognized University / Research Institution with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.0 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. and / or M.   • Centre for Sanskrit Studies : Only those candidates shall be considered for Direct JNU Delhi Admission to the Ph.D. Program who have ( a ) obtained M.Phil degree in Sanskrit / Pali / Allied subject of a recognized University / Research Institution with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.00 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. degree from a University / Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10 – point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. dissertation along with the JNU Delhi PhD Admission Application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials; OR ( b ) at least 2 years research experience in reputed institutions with research publication ( s ) comparable to M.Phil. standard. In addition, they should have obtained Master’s Degree with FGPA of 6.00 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage.
  • Centre for Molecular Medicine : Only those candidates shall be considered for Direct JNU Delhi Admission to the Ph.D. program, who have either ( a ) Obtained MBBS or BVSc degree ( during 2007 or later ) from a recognized University / Institution with one year experience or obtained MD / MVSc degree ( during 2008 or later; experience is not essential ). OR ( b ) Obtained 2 years M.Phil degree from a recognized University / Institution with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.00 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than the 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. degree from a University / Institution where the M.Phil dissertation is not graded or grading is not based on 10 point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. dissertation alongwith the JNU Delhi PhD Admission Application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials; OR ( c ) at least 2 years research experience in reputed institutions with research publication ( s ) in peer reviewed / indexed journals ( NOT review articles or popular articles or papers in the proceedings ) comparable to M.Phil. standard. In addition, they should have obtained Master’s Degree with FGPA of 6.00 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage.
  • Centre for the Study of Law & Governance : Only those candidates shall be considered for Direct JNU Delhi admission to the PhD Program who have ( a ) obtained M.Phil degree of a recognized University / Research Institution with minimum Final Grade Point Average ( FGPA ) of 6.00 in 10 point scale / comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale. The candidates who have obtained M.Phil. degree from a University / Institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10 – point scale, are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil. dissertation along with the JNU Delhi PhD Admission Application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials; OR ( b ) at least 2 years research / administrative / legal experience in reputed institutions with research publication ( s ) comparable to M.Phil. standard.  In addition, they should have obtained Master’s Degree with FGPA of 6.00 in the 10 point scale / comparable standard or equivalent percentage.
  • Note : That the applications of the candidates whose MPhil / MTech / Pre – PhD / MPH results are not available will not be considered under any circumstances. Hence, the applications of only those candidates can be considered whose results are indicated / available in the application form.
  • Pre – Ph.D / Ph.D : Candidates enjoying employed status and selected for admission shall be required to produce LEAVE SANCTION ORDER for a period of two years at the time of admission / registration. However, there is a limited provision for exemption of this requirement to candidates employed in research and teaching Institutions located in NCR Region. Candidates must have M.Sc./ M.Tech. / M.E./ B.Tech./ B.E. degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade point. Candidates must have had Mathematics at least upto 12th standard or equivalent and have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF are eligible to apply. All SC/ST/PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks.
  • The candidates must have qualified CSIR / UGC / ICMR / NBHM / DBT-JRF or other National Level Examination that guarantees a fellowship from the funding agency concerned. Candidates shall have to appear for an interview and their selection will depend on their performance in the interview.
  • Candidates who have appeared in the above mentioned examinations but whose results are a waited may also apply under this category. However, such candidates will only be interviewed upon submission of a valid proof of having qualified for or awarded the above mentioned fellowship at the time of interview. Moreover, only those candidates with valid proof of above mentioned fellowship would be provided permissible travelling allowances for attending the interview. Please note that candidates who have been awarded only the Lecturership in the CSIR / UGC examination are not eligible and will not be interviewed.

  • Last date for receipt of completed Application Form along with all documents is 13th October, 2017.
  • Note : The applications of the candidates whose M.Phil / M.Tech. / Pre-Ph.D. / MPH results are not available will not be considered under any circumstances. Hence, the applications of only those candidates can be considered whose results have been declared and copy attached with the application form.
  • Candidates enjoying employed status and selected for admission shall be required to produce LEAVE SANCTION ORDER for a period of two years at the time of admission/ registration. However, there is a limited provision for exemption of this requirement to candidates employed in research and teaching Institutions located in NCR.
  • Application Forms for admission in Winter Semester beginning January, 2017. The Application Forms for Winter Semester beginning January 2017 will be available from15th September, 2017 to 13th October, 2017 and last date for submitting the Application Forms will be 13th October, 2017.

  • JNU Application Form duly filled in an respects enclosing therewith the required documents and Demand Draft of the required amount drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi.
  • Candidates are requested to fill in the Application Form in all respects. Duly filled in Application Forms can be submitted by Registered Post to the following address or in person in Room No. 28, Administrative Block of the University on or before 13th October, 2017.
