MIER College of Education Admission 2018 Eligibility

M.Ed.

A candidate seeking admission to M.Ed. Programme should have obtained atleast 50 % marks in the aggregate ( 45 % for candidates belonging to SC / ST Category ) or an equivalent grade in any of the following programmes:

  • B.Ed.
  • 4 – year Integrated B.A. B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed.
  • B.El.Ed.
  • D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate degree ( with 50% marks in each )

MA ( Education )

A candidate seeking admission to M.A. ( Education ) Programme must have passed the Bachelor’s Degree Examination ( 10+2+3 pattern ) / Semester pattern in any discipline from a recognized University / Institution with atleast 40% aggregate marks ( 36% for SC / ST candidates ). The candidates who have appeared in the final year / semester examination of Bachelor’s Degree Examination can also apply for the course.

B.Ed. 

  • Admission to the B.Ed. Course shall be open to candidates, With at least 45 % marks ( 40 % for reserved categories ) in the Bachelor’s Degree Examination or any other qualification equivalent thereto from a recognized University. ( or )
  • With at least 50 % marks ( 45 % for reserved categories ) in the Masters Degree Programme or any other qualification equivalent thereto from a recognized university.
  • The candidates who have appeared in the final year of Bachelor’s Degree Examination can also apply.
B.Ed. Special Education ( MR / ID )
  • Admission to the B.Ed. Special Education ( ID ) Course shall be open to candidates with at least 50 % marks ( 45 % for SC / ST Candidates ) either in the Bachelor’s Degree or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences / Social Sciences / Humanities, Engineering or Technology with Specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks ( 50% for reserved categories ) or any other qualification equivalent thereto from a recognized University.
  • The candidates who have appeared in the final year of Bachelor’s Degree Examination can also apply. ( This course is approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India ( RCI ) and is aimed at training students to teach mentally retarded children in both normal & special schools )

Note

The candidates are advised to deposit their marks certificates of the final year of Bachelor’s Degree Examination /B.Ed ( or as the case may be ) either in the College or through Registered / Speed Post or scanned copy through e-mail after the declaration of the result.

Reservation of Seats 

Admission of 67% of the eligible candidates to the courses shall be made on the basis of open merit and 33% seats shall be available for the candidates belonging to the reserved category / categories as per the distribution given as under

MIER College of Education Admission 2018 Application Form

How to apply

  • Candidates desirous of seeking admission are required to register themselves online on the College website www.miercollege.in.
  • Documents to be submitted at the time of admission for M.Ed. Programme is following
    • Secondary school or an equivalent examination certificate
    • Marks Certificates of the qualifying examination
    • Provisional Certificate issued by the institution last attended
    • Category Certificate ( if applicable )
    • Migration Certificate for the candidates not registered with MIER College of Education ( Autonomous ). However, the candidates may produce the Migration Certificate within a period of 30 days from the date of their admission
    • Affidavits as per the specimen available with the Admission Cell
  • Documents to be submitted at the time of admission for MA ( Education ) Programme is following
    • Secondary school or an equivalent examination certificate
    • Marks Certificate of each part / semester of graduation
    • Provisional Certificate issued by the institution last attended
    • Category Certificate ( if applicable )
    • Migration Certificate for the candidates not registered with MIER College of Education ( Autonomous ). However, the candidates may produce the Migration Certificate within a period of 30 days from the date of their admission
    • Affidavits as per the specimen available with the Admission Cell
  • Documents to be submitted at the time of admission for B.Ed. & B. Ed. Spl. Education ( MR / ID )  is following
    • Secondary School or equivalent examination certificate
    • Marks Certificates of the qualifying examination
    • Degree / Provisional Certificate issued by the Institution / University last attended
    • Marks Certificate of each part of the qualifying examination
    • Certificate of a good conduct from the Principal of the College / Head of the institution or any Gazetted Officer
    • Category Certificate issued by the Competent Authority as per the latest SRO issued by the J&K State Government ( if applicable )
    • Certificate of being Permanent Resident of the State of Jammu and Kashmir issued by the Competent Authority by those candidates who
      • passed the qualifying examination from University other than the University of Jammu but belong to the areas falling within the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu and claim consideration for admission to the course
      • Claim consideration for admission under any of the reserved categories
    • Migration Certificate for the candidates not registered with MIER College of Education ( Autonomous ). However, the candidate may produce the migration certificate within a period of 30 days from the date of their admission.
    • Affidavits as per the specimen available with the Admission Cell of the College

Application fee

  • Fill up the Online Application Form with an application fee of [rupee]1000/-as per the procedure provided on the portal.
  • The details are also provided on the website for the convenience of the applicants.
  • Applicants facing difficulty in submitting the online application form or seeking any clarification, can visit the College Admission Cell between 10 am to 4 pm for assistance.
  • Candidates can also submit the downloaded form and all documents along with a Demand Draft for [rupee]1000/- in favour of Director, MIER payable at Jammu through registered post / Speed Post / Courier.

MIER College of Education Admission 2018 Selection process

M.Ed. / M.A. ( Education )

  • Admission shall be made on the basis of an Entrance Test and Academic Merit of the qualifying examination from any recognized University i.e. B.Ed. / 4 – year Integrated B.A., B.Ed., B.Sc. / B.Ed. / B.El.Ed. / D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate degree ( with 50% marks in each ) for M.Ed. programme and Bachelor’s Degree Examination in any discipline for M.A. ( Education ) programme from a recognized University / Institution. The final merit shall be determined by giving a weightage of 30% to the marks obtained in the Entrance Test and 70% to the academic merit of the qualifying examination.
  • The Entrance Test shall have 80 objective type questions spread over the following components:
    • Knowledge of Education and Teacher Education – 20 questions
    • General Knowledge – 20 questions
    • General English – 20 questions
    • Reasoning and Numerical Ability – 20 questions
      • Each correct answer shall carry one mark.
      • The duration of the Entrance Test shall be ninety minutes.

B.Ed. & B. Ed. Spl. Education ( MR / ID )

  • 75% of the sanctioned seats available in the College shall be filled from amongst the eligible candidates who are Graduates or Post – Graduates of the University of Jammu or  belong to areas falling within the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu but have passed the qualifying examination from a University other than the University of Jammu. Or  Such employees of the Central / State Govt. / Public Sector Undertakings or any other Organization recognized by the University of Jammu as are posted within the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu or wards ( sons, daughters or spouses ) of such employees.
  • Provided further that wards of Kashmiri migrants in other parts of the Country are also eligible for admission to the B.Ed. / B.Ed. Special Education ( ID ) Course under Local Category of the admission within the 75% of the sanctioned seats in order of merit, provided such a candidate produces a documentary evidence of belonging to a family registered as Kashmiri Migrant.
  • The remaining 25% seats shall be filled from amongst the eligible candidates who neither belong to the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu nor have passed the qualifying examination from the University of Jammu.

Procedure and Mode of Selection

  • Admission of all eligible candidates to the Courses shall be made by the College Admission Committee on the basis of academic merit in the qualifying examination.
  • Merit shall be determined on the basis of Academic merit of the qualifying examination.
  • Three lists of candidates ( if need arises ) to fill up the seats drawn in order of merit giving 5 days time for completing necessary formalities and depositing of fee etc. shall be notified. However, if the seats still remain vacant, the admission shall be made on first – cum – first – serve basis out of the remaining list of candidates to ensure timely commencement of class work.
