SAU New Delhi Admission Eligibility 2019

MSc in Applied Mathematics

  • Candidates must complete 12 years of schooling + a 3 – year Bachelor’s degree ( with Mathematics as a subject for at least two years ) from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. Candidates who have a 4 – year Bachelor’s degree or 2 – year Bachelor’s degree and have cleared the first year of the Master’s programme are also eligible.

MSc in Computer Science

  • Candidates must complete 12 years of schooling + a 3 – year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant area* with mathematics as a subject either at the Bachelor’s level or at 10+2 ( 12th class ) level from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. Candidates who have a 4 year Bachelor’s degree or 2 – year Bachelor’s degree and have cleared the first year of the Master’s programme are also eligible.

MSc in Biotechnology

  • Candidates must complete 12 years of schooling + a 3 year Bachelor’s degree ( BSc, BVSc, BTech, MBBS, etc. ) in any area of Biological Sciences / Chemistry / Agriculture and allied sciences; Veterinary and allied sciences and Biotechnology / Biochemical Technology from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. Students who have not studied Biology at the Bachelor’s level must have studied and passed in Biology as a subject at the 10+2 ( 12th class ) level. Candidates who have a 4 year Bachelor’s degree or a 2 year Bachelor’s degree and have cleared the first year of the Master’s programme are also eligible.

MA in Economics ( with specialization in Economic Development )

  • Candidates must complete 12 years of schooling + a 3 year Bachelor’s degree with mathematics as a subject of study at the 10+2 ( 12th class ) level or at the Bachelor’s level or both from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. Candidates who have a 4 year Bachelor’s degree or 2 year Bachelor’s degree and have cleared the first year of the Master’s programme are also eligible.
  • Since a sound knowledge of economics at the undergraduate level is necessary to cope with the Master’s programme, the entrance test will feature questions on undergraduate level economics, mathematics and statistics.

MA in International Relations

  • Candidates must complete 12 years of schooling + a 3 year Bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. Candidates who have a 4 year Bachelor’s degree or 2 year Bachelor’s degree and have cleared the first year of the Master’s programme are also eligible.

MA in Sociology

  • Candidates must complete 12 years of schooling + a 3 – year Bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries in any discipline, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. Candidates who have a 4 year Bachelor’s degree or 2 year Bachelor’s degree and have cleared the first year of the Master’s programme are also eligible.

Master of Laws ( LLM )

  • Candidates must complete 12 years of schooling + a 5 year integrated BA / BBA / BSc / LLB degree or 12 years of schooling + a 2 or 3 year Bachelor’s degree + a 3 year LLB degree or 12 years of schooling + a 4 year LLB degree ) from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries, with a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade.

SAU New Delhi Admission Seats 2019

Country-Wise Quota of Seats

  • 50% seats are reserved for Indian applicants in all the Master’s level programmes;
  • 4% seats are reserved for applicants from each of the following five countries: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka;
  • 10% seats are reserved for applicants from each of the following countries: Pakistan and Bangladesh;
  • 10% seats may be allotted to applicants from outside the SAARC region;
  • Merit lists will be prepared country-wise and the competition will only be amongst candidates within each country;
  • If the seats allocated to a particular country are not filled, they will be allocated to students from other countries, as per SAU rules

SAU New Delhi Admission Application Form 2019

  • SAU New Delhi application form is available in the official website: www.sau.int.
  • The fee for appearing in the Entrance Test is US $10 or [rupee] 650/-. Applications for admission will be accepted only online and payment must be made by credit / debit cards or net banking. Those who cannot pay the application fee online still need to fill and submit the online application form. They can then courier a bank draft for US$ 10 or [rupee] 650/- drawn in favour of “South Asian University” payable at New Delhi to the following address :

  • The bank draft must have the name of the candidate, application number and the programme applied for at the back of the bank draft. However, registration will be done only on receipt of the bank draft.

SAU New Delhi Selection Procedure 2019

  • Candidates are selected on the basis of merit in the entrance examination conducted by SAU throughout the region of SAARC.

Admission Procedure for Nationals of Non – SAARC Countries

  • All candidates from outside the SAARC region should send their application on the prescribed application form directly to Deputy Registrar Admissions, South Asian University, Akbar Bhawan, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021, India, with all supporting documents including educational records, identity proof and a colour photograph.
  • Each application will be scrutinized by  the concerned faculty to determine the eligibility of the candidate and the decision of the University will be final in this regard. Students from outside the SAARC region do not have to take an Entrance Test and will be admitted on the basis of their past performance. They are also not eligible for any scholarships / freeships offered by the University.
