Wildlife Institute of India Dehradun invites admission application for MSc Course in Wildlife Science 2013 – 2015.

MSc in Wildlife Science Admission Eligibility 2013 :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Medical Sciences, Engineering, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Social Science, Computer Science and Computer Applications or degrees recognized as equivalent thereof ( should have studied in Science stream at Higher Secondary Education Board or other equivalent board ).
  • Minimum of 15 years of formal education ( either 10 + 2 + 3 or 11 + 2 + 2 ).
  • Minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree. Candidate must produce result along with mark sheet of their graduation at the time of their personality and aptitude test, failing which their candidature will be treated as cancelled. Shortlisted foreign candidates will be interviewed through audio or video conferencing following which their final selection will be made.
  • The date and time of the interview will be informed by email. Foreign nationals who do not have English as their native language should provide evidence of proficiency in English ( e.g. TOEFL Score ) for admission to this course.
  • The TOEFL or IELTS score reports should not be more than two years since taking the Test to submission of the application. A minimum TOEFL Score of 213 ( computer based ), 550 ( paper based ), or 79 ( internet based ), or minimum of 6.0 IELTS score is required. Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree from Universities outside India should obtain certificates of equivalence from the Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, AIU House 16, Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg, New Delhi – 110 002 or email to administration@aiuweb.org.

MSc in Wildlife Science Admission Selection Procedure 2013 :

  • Eligible candidates will be required to appear for a written NET in any one of the centres ( Bengaluru, Dehra Dun, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Guwahati ) which is nearest to his / her permanent residence.
  • The NET will be for 2.5 hours. The test will have 30 marks multiple-choice questions on General Awareness including Current affairs, Quantitative skills, Geology, Geography, Sociology, Economics and Engineering; 40 marks multiple – choice questions in Wildlife sciences including Natural History, Biogeography, Ecology, Genetics, Vegetation science, Population ecology, Habitat ecology, Behavioural ecology, Conservation biology, Wildlife health and 30 marks Essay Questions covering conservation issues. Shortlisted meritorious candidates based on NET screening will be called to take a Personality and Aptitude Test ( PAT ) at Dehra Dun.
  • Final selection to the Course will be made on the basis of combined merit of 50% marks obtained in the Bachelor’s degree examination and 50% of PAT.

  • Wildlife Institute of India Dehradun MSc Wildlife Science admission application form can be downloaded from Institute website : www.wiienvis.nic.in.
  • Send completed MSc Wildlife Science admission application along with a Rupee 300/- paid in the form of a bank draft in favour of “Director, Wildlife Institute of India”, payable at Dehra Dun. Application fee is exempted for SC / ST candidates. Foreign Nationals are required to pay an application fee of US$ 50.
  • The envelope containing the application or annexure as the case should be marked on top “APPLICATION FOR XIV-M.Sc. WILDLIFE SCIENCE”.

Important Dates for MSc in Wildlife Science Admission 2013 :

  • The last date for receiving MSc Wildlife Science application is : 11th March, 2013.
  • The NET is likely to be held on : 21st April, 2013.
