Career Diploma Defined Career diplomas are awarded for completing vocational or technical training programs at post secondary learning institutions, such as 2 – year colleges. It’s not the same as a college diploma. These diploma programs are focused on providing specific education for job opportunities or advancement. Some diploma programs are formally required for employment, while others may be optional. Sometimes a career diploma may be referred to as a certificate of completion or achievement, depending on the school’s preference. Career diplomas are typically shorter in length than degree programs, and you can usually complete most in 1 – 2 years; however, some programs may be shorter or longer in duration. Many programs are structured so that you can continue working while pursuing an education. Most career diploma programs combine traditional classroom learning with hands – on training. Some programs include work experience opportunities and job placement assistance. You may also be able to transfer credits earned in a diploma program toward completion of a higher degree.

Health Care : Not all careers in health care require an advanced degree. You can gain medical and dental assistant or nurse’s aide training through career diploma programs. You may opt for emergency medical technician or first responder programs. Health care office management, billing and coding training are also available through career diploma programs.
Technical and Industrial : You can find a large variety of training for technology – based jobs in this category, including air – conditioning technology and electrical systems maintenance. Automotive repair and welding programs also fall under this category. Generally, these types of programs incorporate a substantial amount of practical learning.
