Candidates who have passed 10+2 with Science with a minimum of 60 percent aggregate marks can opt for various courses in dairy technology. The selection is done on the basis of an entrance examination conducted at the National level.After graduating in dairy technology one can pursue a master's degree in dairy engineering and dairy technology disciplines.
Candidates who have done B.V.Sc. and Biotechnology courses are exempted from graduation courses in dairy technology and can directly compete in the entrance to the master's degree programmes.

Qualified Dairy Technologists who wish to specialise in Management areas can do MBA progra-mmes or Agri-Business Management or Rural Management or Cooperative Management.
Entry to the B.Tech programmes is through an Entrance Test in Physics, Chemistry and Maths of +2 level. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) conducts an Entrance Examination at the all India level for admission to B.Tech. programmes in State Agricultural Universities, Central Agricultural University and NDRI, Karnal (Haryana). The syllabus of the B.Tech. programme in Dairy Tech. Includes processing of milk and milk products, quality control and engineering aspects of dairy processing units and instruments.
For the Masters programme in Dairy Tech., specialisations are offered in Dairy Microbiology/Chemistry/Animal Genetics and Breeding/Animal Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Dairy Economics and Dairy Extension/Dairy Engineering/Farm Production and Management etc.
