BRAOU Admission 2018

Dr. B.R Ambedkar Open University has been invites applications from eligible applicants for admission into M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes for the academic year 2018.

BRAOU Admission 2018 Eligibility

MPhil

  • A candidate should possess a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% ( 50% in the case of SC / ST / PH candidates ) in the subject concerned or in any allied subject from a recognized university.

PhD

  • A candidate should possess a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks ( 50% in the case of SC / ST / PH candidates ) in the subject concerned or in any allied subject from a recognized university. ( or )
  • A candidate should have passed in UGC-CSIR / JRF / NET / SLET / GATE / M.Phil.
  • In all the Faculties the eligibility criterion for registration/admission into Ph.D. programme in a subject is:
  • The candidates must have obtained a Post Graduate Degree from a recognized University in the concerned subject concerned or in an allied subject approved by the concerned University, securing not less that 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Post Graduate Degree ( not less than 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in the case of SC / ST / PH candidates ). ( or )
  • The candidates must have been awarded a research fellowship, in the concerned subject, either through a national level test conducted by national level organizations such as UGC / CSIR /ICAR / ICMR / DBT or by a national level organization ( fellowships such as DST-INSPIRE or RGNF, if awarded as per rules of UGC ) or Teacher Fellowship applicants subject to clearance by the concerned authorities. ( or )
  • Must have qualified in the UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / SET-TS/AP / JEST / GATE / GPAT Examination, in the concerned subject. ( or )
  • Must have obtained M.Phil. Degree in the subject concerned.
  • A candidate, satisfying one or more of the eligibility criteria as per the rules is not guaranteed admission into Ph.D. programme. The Ph.D. admission is subject to the availability of vacancies with the Research upervisor ( s ) in the concerned department, candidate’s academic record and the performance of the candidate in the Ph.D. admission interview.

How to apply

  • The applicants can download the BRAOU Application – cum – Prospectus for M.Phil and PhD programmes from the university website www.braou.ac.in.
  • The filled-in applications should reach the following address on or before 26th June, 2018.

Application fee

  • Submit the filled-in application form along with photo copies of certificates of the qualifying examination with marks memos and a Demand Draft for ₹500 ( Rupees Five Hundred only ) drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of “The Registrar, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad”.
  • Separate applications have to be submitted for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes if the candidate wants to apply for both.

BRAOU Admission 2018 Selection Process

MPhil

  • Admission into the M.Phil. programme shall be made through a written test.
  • The written test shall consist of two papers, one in the Research Methodology and another in the subject in which the candidate seeks admission into the M.Phil. programme.
  • The duration of the examination is 1 hour for each paper. Each paper shall carry 40 marks.
  • The qualifying marks in the written test are 40% ( 35% in the case of SC / ST / PH candidates ).
  • JRF / NET / SLET / GATE / UGC / CSIR / ICAR / ACMR / DBT or any Test conducted by a national level organization ( fellowships such as DSTINSPIRE or RGNF, if awarded as per rules of UGC ) or Teacher Fellowship applicants subject to clearance by the concerned authorities qualified applicants shall be exempted from the written test, provided they register with the University for the programme by paying the prescribed fee. However, they have to appear for interview.
  • Those who qualify at the written test and / or in JRF / NET / SLET / GATE etc. shall be called for an interview, which carries 20 marks, where the candidates will be tested in analytical abilities, research aptitude, understanding of the subject and communication skills.
  • The candidates should secure a minimum of 40% in the interview ( 35% in the case of SC / ST / PH candidates ) to qualify for admission.
  • The candidates who qualify in both written test and interview shall be considered for admission into the M.Phil. programme of the subject concerned based on the availability of seats and the rule of reservation of the state government.
  • The maximum number of seats in each Department is 12.
  • Admissions shall be made once a year.

PhD

  • Admission into the Ph.D. programme shall be made through a written test.
  • The written test shall consist of two papers of one hour duration in the subject in which the candidate seeks admission into the Ph.D. programme and shall carry 80 marks.
  • The qualifying marks in the written test are 40% ( 35% in the case of SC / ST / PH candidates ).
  • JRF / NET / SLET / GATE / M.Phil. qualified applicants shall be exempted from the written test provided they register with the University for the Programme by paying the prescribed fee. However they have to appear for interview.
  • Those who qualify at the written test and / or the applicants qualified in JRF / NET / SLET / GATE / M.Phil. shall be called for an interview, which carries 20 marks, where the candidates will be tested in analytical abilities, research aptitude, understanding of the subject and communication skills. The candidates should secure a minimum of 40% in interview ( 35 % in the case of SC / ST / PH candidates ) to qualify for admission.
  • At the time of interview, the candidate has to submit a topic along with the research proposal / research design.
  • The candidates who qualify in both written test and interview shall be considered for admission into the Ph.D. programme of the subject concerned based on the availability of seats and the rule of reservation of the state government.
  • Admissions into the Ph.D. programme shall be made once a year.

BRAOU Admission Eligibility

M.Ed ( Recognised by NCTE ) ( 2 years )

  • Eligibility for Dr BRAOU Distace Education Course : The candidate should be an Indian citizen.
  • The candidates who have obtained minimum 55 % marks in aggregate B.Ed / ( B.El.Ed )
  • However 5% of marks will be relaxed in case of SC / ST / BC / PH candidates
  • The candidates must have at least 2 years of experience as on July either as Teachers / Administrators at any level in a recognized institution / Department of Education.
  • Age : Age limit 23 years as on July.
  • Medium : English.

B.Ed ( Recognised by NCTE ) ( 2 years )

  • Eligibility for Dr BRAOU Distace Education Course : Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in B.A. / B.Sc / B.Sc ( Home Science ) / B.Com / BCA/ BBM / BBA from any university recognized by UGC
  • Candidate should have a minimum two years teaching experience as on July as a regular teacher at any level in Government / Local Bodies / Aided Institutions recognized by the State Government.
  • Vidya volunteers who have completed 2 academic years of experience and working in the present post are also eligible.
  • Service certificate must be countersigned by MEO.
  • Candidates appeared at the final year degree exams are also eligible to write the entrance test.
  • Such candidates must submit their original provisional degree certificate at the time of admission.
  • Age : Candidates should have completed 21 years as on July.
  • Medium : Telugu

B.Ed ( SE ) ( Recognised by RCI ) ( 2 years )

  • Eligibility for Dr BRAOU Distace Education Course : Candidate should be an Indian Citizen residing in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Candidates should have passed B.A. / B.Sc / B.Sc ( Home Science ) / B.Com / BCA / BBM / BOL with 45% of aggregate marks ( 5% relaxation in case of SC / ST / BC / PH ) or appeared for the final year examination at the time of applying for the B.Ed ( SE ) are also eligible to write entrance test ( subject to the fulfillment of clause of % of marks mentioned ).
  • Age : Age limit 21 years by July.
  • Medium : English and Telugu

BRAOU Application Form

  • Applications can be obtained by submitting a Challan ( SBH ) or demand draft from any nationalized bank in favour of the Registrar, Dr BR Ambedkar Open University payable at Hyderabad either from the University headquarters, or Program Centre and or any Regional Coordination Centres listed below of Dr BR Ambedkar Open University.
  • Filled in application forms shall be submitted along with a registration fee of ₹ 100/- challan ( SBH ) or demand draft at the RCC’s / Program centres either in person or by post on or before the last date The forms received without registration fee and after last date will not be considered.
