Jammu University Distance Education BEd Admission 2013

University of Jammu invites application from eligible candidates for admission to the BEd Program through Distance Mode for the academic session 2013 – 2015.

Jammu University Distance Education Course Duration

The minimum duration of the program is two years. However, the maximum period allowed for completion of the program will be five years.

Medium

  • Medium of Instruction : The medium of instruction in all the subjects shall be English expect in case of Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi where it will be the language concerned.
  • Medium of Examination : The medium of examination shall be Hindi and English except in case of teaching subjects i.e. Urdu, Hindi & Punjabi. The candidate has to give his / her option of medium of examination at the time of filling in the admission and examination form. Option once exercised will not be changed.

Jammu University Distance Education BEd Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the BEd course through Distance Education Mode shall be open to the candidates :

  • Who have passed Bachelor’s Degree Examination in the Faculty of Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Commerce, Agriculture, Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary Science and Forestry conducted by the University of Jammu or an examination from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto.
  • Who are serving as full time teachers in recognized school ( Primary Secondary, Higher Secondary levels ) within the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu.
  • Who have minimum of 2 years teaching experience at the time of submission of application form for admission.

Jammu University Distance Education Total & Reserved Seats

The distribution of seats for admission shall be as under :

  1. 100 seats shall be reserved for the Government Deputies;
  2. Out of the remaining seats, 80% of seats shall be filled in from the open merit list of the candidates and 20% of seats shall be filled in from the reserved categories as per Statute 12 on the basis of merit in their respective category to be determined in
    accordance with the Statute 11.

Break-up of 20% seats reserved for different categories as referred to in Statute 6 shall be as under :

  1. Scheduled Castes 8%
  2. Defence Service Personnel including Ex-servicemen and their children who are permanent residents of the State and have had a satisfactory service record. 2%
  3. Candidates belonging to the Areas adjoining the Actual Line of Control 2%
    1. Candidates belonging to Backward area including Scheduled Tribes of Leh and Kargil ( atleast one Seat in a Course / Program of study will be provided out of this category for candidates belonging to Leh / Kargil ) 3%
    2. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes ( Gujjar, Bakerwal, Gaddi and Sippi ) 3%
  4. Candidates belonging to the following weak and under-privileged classes : 2%
    1. Village Potters
    2. Bhangies, Khakrobs ( Sweepers )
    3. Village Barbers
    4. Bhands
    5. Mirasis
    6. Madaries / Bazigars
    7. Jheewars
    8. Telies ( rural only )
    9. Graties

University of Jammu Distance Education Admission Procedure

Admission shall be made through Counselling on the basis of selected forms on the spot admission. The Counselling schedule shall be notified separately. No separate invitation for Counseling shall be sent individually to the candidates. The candidates have to be present personally at the time of Counselling.

University of Jammu Distance Education BEd Payment Mode

All fees have to be remitted to the Directorate through a Crossed Bank Draft drawn in favour of “Director, Directorate of Distance Education University of Jammu” payable at Jammu. The admission fee is to be deposited only at the time of enrolment. Remittance of fee through any other mode ( money order, cheques, cash and postal orders ) will not be accepted.

University of Jammu invites application from eligible candidates for admission to the MEd Program through Distance Mode for the academic session 2013 – 2015.

Duration : The M.Ed. Programme shall be of the duration of one year ( two semesters ).

Medium of Instruction and Examination : The medium of instruction and examination shall be English

Any person having a Bachelor’s Degree in Education ( BEd ) from University of Jammu. or an examination passed from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to M.Ed. Program through Distance Education Mode.

Subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria and other conditions prescribed for M.Ed. Program through Distance Education, the admission shall first be given to a candidate, who :

    • Has passed the qualifying examination from the University of Jammu and is a permanent resident of territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu; or
    • Has passed the qualifying examination from any other University other than the University of Jammu but is a permanent resident of the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu or
    • Is an employee of the Central or a State Government or a Public Sector Undertaking or any other Organization recognized for the purpose by the syndicate, posted within the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu, or son / daughter / spouse of such an employee;
    • Is not a permanent resident of the territorial jurisdiction of University of Jammu, but has passed qualifying examination with not less than 60% marks from any University other than University of Jammu, subject to the condition that number of seats in this category shall not exceed 10% of the total number of seats available in the Program of the study.
  1. After making admission of students falling under the foresaid criteria, if seats remain vacant these shall be open to such candidates as have passed qualifying examination from any recognized University provided they have applied in time and are otherwise eligible.

Total Seats and Reserved Category Seats

(A) Total number of seats for admission to the MEd Programme ( DDE ), will be 500 from the session 2009-10, out of which 67% seats will be filled on the basis of open merit.

(B) Reserved Category Seats

(i) After selection of candidates is made on the basis of open merit, the remaining thirty-three percent ( 33% ) seats, not withstanding any thing contrary contained in any law. S.R.O. or regulation in the state, shall be filled up in accordance with the criteria given below :

(ii) Break-up of the Reserved Categories

  • Category (i) Scheduled Caste 8%
  • Category (ii) a) Sportsmen 4%. b) Persons who have excelled in Cultural / Literary Activities. 2 %
  • Category (iii) Person who have participated with distinction in NSS / Bharat Scouts & Guides activity. 4%
  • Category (iv) Defence Service Personnel including Ex-Servicemen and their children who are permanent residents of the State and have had a satisfactory service record 2%
  • Category (v) Candidates belonging to the areas adjoining the Actual Line of Control. 2 %
  • Category (vi) Candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe 5%
  • Category (vii) Candidates belonging to ( ST, Residents of the Districts of Leh & Kargil ) 2%
  • Category (viii) Candidates belonging to Backward area other than that of districts Leh & Kargil 2%
  • Category (ix) Candidates belonging to weak and under- Privileged Classes as notified in S.R.O. by the state from time to time. 2%

Note : 3% intake of persons with disabilities shall be over and above the 500 seats.
