In each of the B. Tech and M. Tech. programmes, 5 seats are reserved for students from Municipal Schools, Zilla Parishad and the Weaker Sections. Also the reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC and other categories is in accordance with the rules of the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth.
Eligibility and Admission Criteria :
M. Tech. Programmes: Candidates, to be eligible to take the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, should have scored a minimum of 55% marks at an undergraduate level degree of a UGC recognized university / institute in any of the following: B. Tech. or B.Sc. in Biotechnology; Industrial Biotechnology; Applied Biology; B. Pharma.; Life Sciences; Biochemistry I Biophysics; Microbiology; Botany; Zoology; B. V. Sc./ M.B.B.S. Candidates who are due to appear in the final semester / year of the qualifying examination shall also be considered for appearing in the entrance test provided the candidates have scored 55% or equivalent grade in previous semesters. However, in the event of selection, the admission will be subject to their securing the minimum 55% marks of equivalent CGPA in the qualifying examination.
B. Tech. Programmes: The Candidates who have either passed 12th Class Examination under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English securing a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry Biology and English are eligible for the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth.

The question paper for the Entrance Test will be of 1.5 hours duration consisting 100 questions of multiple choice. The questions will be based on the following topics :
Basic Technology (at under-graduate level)
Physics /Chemistry /Maths (at 10+2 level)
Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology at under-graduate level)
