Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers – AMIE IEI 2016

The Associate Member of Institution of Engineers – AMIE is a Professional Certification given by Institution of Engineers, India.

The Institution Examinations shall be held twice a year, generally in June and December — termed as SUMMER and WINTER Examination respectively in the schemes as may be decided by the Council.

Only members of The Institution of Engineers, India are permitted to appear at the examinations conducted by the Institution in conformity with their eligibility and qualifications. Eligibility and qualifications for election as members of various classes are indicated.

AMIE IEI 2016  Summer Examinations of Sections ‘A’ and ‘B’ shall be conducted at 70 Examination Centres in India and abroad.

The Institution conducts the following examinations :

AMIE Examination in one or more of the above branches may be discontinued with prior notification. In addition to the above examinations, the Council of the Institution may introduce Section B examination in one or more of the following branches of engineering :

AMIE IEI 2016  Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria for ST / ST Membership Technician Member

Every candidate for election as a Technician Member shall satisfy the Council that he possesses the following :

Age : He / She shall have attained the age of 17 ( Seventeen ) years on the date of his / her application for election.

Educational Qualification : He / She shall have possessed an educational qualification recognized by the Council as given in the Institution Examinations Rules.

Academic Training : He / She shall, in the opinion of the Council, be making satisfactory progress in the acquisition of qualification for Corporate Membership.

Senior Technician Members

Every candidate for election as a Senior Technician Member or for transfer from Technician Member to Senior Technician Member shall satisfy the Council that he possesses the following :

Age : He / She shall have attained the age of 18 (eighteen) years on the date of his / her application for election or transfer, as the case may be.
He / She shall be engaged in the engineering profession as a pupil or apprentice or assistant under a Corporate Member and shall, in the opinion of the Council, be making satisfactory progress in the acquisition of qualification for Corporate Membership provided that temporary unemployment is no bar to his election.

Examination : He / She shall possessed either (a) an accredited diploma examination in engineering or technology or its equivalent as recognized by the Council or (b) such other examination recognized by the Council as exempting from passing Section A ( Non diploma ) Examination of the Institution.

Educational Qualification : The candidates who have passed an examination, as listed in the Part I of Appendix II (see Institution Examinations Rules — Volume I), shall be eligible to apply for Senior Technician Membership.

The candidates who possess any qualification as listed in the Part II of Appendix II (see Institution Examinations Rules — Volume I), shall be eligible to apply for Senior Technician Membership, claiming complete exemption from Section A Examination of the Institution.

Foreign Qualifications

The foreign engineering qualifications are not listed in Appendices II and III of the Institution Examinations Rules but the holders of such qualifications may also apply for admission to the appropriate class of membership and the case will be considered on an individual merit after ascertaining the standard of the qualifications from the national society of engineers of the countries concerned.

AMIE IEI 2016 Summer Application Form

A candidate shall be required to submit an application in the prescribed form to the Headquarters of the Institution at 8, Gokhale Road, Kolkata 700 020, expressing his desire to appear in a particular examination together with the requisite fee by Bank Draft within the period of receipt of such forms as may be notified from time to time.

Applications submitted during the period mentioned hereunder shall only be considered for Winter 2016 Examinations.

A candidate shall not be allowed to appear in the following schemes, if exceeding the number of subjects as mentioned against each scheme :

Section ‘A’ ( Non-Diploma ) –  4 Subjects;  Section ‘A’ ( Diploma ) –  All Subjects; Section ‘B’ – 4 subjects.

Photocopy of the Examination Form shall be accepted if copied clearly on A4 size paper only. The Examination Form should be sent duly filled-in directly to the headquarters of the Institution with requisite fee of Rupee 2000/- (US $ 150 for candidate intend to appear from overseas examination centre ) by demand draft within the stipulated date.

AMIE Examination Form is available with the ‘Membership Pack’.

Important Points to Remember :

Quote telephone number / mobile number / e-mail ID in all examination-related communication with headquarters, including in the examination application form / application for registration of Section B / examination re-registration, etc to maintain better interaction between our members and the headquarters.

No acknowledgement is sent regarding receipt of examination form / registration for Section B / examination re-registration / application for project work / laboratory experiments. However, membership numbers of all eligible applicants for registration of Section B are being placed on our website a week prior to Summer / Winter examination. Candidates applied for registration of Section B / examination re-registration, separate identity card shall be issued.

List of candidates registered for May / June and November / December sessions for project work and / or laboratory experiments shall be available on our website in last week of May and November, respectively. The list will indicate the name and address of the project guide and / or name of the college / institute for laboratory experiments. In addition, all such candidates shall be informed by ordinary post with due information to their project guide and / or the college.
