What Is NATA?
The National Aptitude Test in Architecture ( NATA ) measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability, that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.
NATA 2013 Test Dates :
Nata Test shall commence from 20th March, 2013 and can be given on any working day until further communication at the designated Test Centres. However, some test centres may open late or stop conducting tests even before this date. Please check with the centre before you go for registration.
Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
NATA 2013 Eligibility :
Any person having passed SSC ( Std X ) or equivalent examination can appear for NATA, however, candidates having minimum 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with mathematics as one of the subject, only are eligible for admission to B.Arch. Course.
Who should take NATA and Why?
Prospective applicants desirous of taking admission to First year of undergraduate course in Architecture ( Bachelor of Architecture ) in India take NATA. NATA scores are used by admissions authorities of different Government, Government Aided & unaided schools / colleges of Architecture, to provide common measure for comparing the qualifications of applicants, for admission in addition to their scholastic performance in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
Repeating NATA :
NATA can be given as many number of times as desired by the candidate. For every attempt, however, a new form will have to be purchased from the designated branches of the ICICI Bank Ltd. The mark list will show the average of marks scored by the candidate in his last attempt and his previous valid score.
Data on such Tests shows that repeaters on an average show a slight score gain. However, this finding is tempered by the observation that repeaters are typically a self-selected group who believe that repeating the test will increase their scores.
Unless the scores seem unusually low compared to the other indicators of the candidate’s ability, taking a NATA again is not likely to result in a substantial score increase. In fact, there is some chance that the candidate’s scores may drop.
Do not register for repeat attempt unless you receive score card for previous attempt.
Candidate, while seeking the repeat test appointment must inform the test centre of the previous attempts and present copy of previous Appointment voucher / Score card. If any candidate is found registering afresh despite earlier appearance for NATA, he / she will forfeit his / her candidature, his / her all previous scores will be cancelled and he / she will be barred from appearing for NATA again.
