TISS NET 2017 Reservation

Reservation Policy for the year 2017 – 2018 of seats is as per Government of India requirements :

  • Scheduled Castes ( SC ) : 15% of the total seats.
  • Schedule Tribes ( ST ) : 7.5% of the total seats.
  • Other Backward Classes  (OBC ( Non – Creamy Layers ) ) : 27% of the total seats.
  • Persons With Disability: ( supernumerary quota ) : As per Government of India requirement : the provisions under section 39 of Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995, 3% seats are reserved for persons with disabilities in admission requirements.
  • Kashmiri Migrants : Subject to the GoI directives.
  • Armed Forces : Reservation of 5% seats ( supernumerary quota ) for Children / widows of personnel Armed / Paramilitary Forces killed / disabled in action during the hostilities priority.

TISS NET 2017 M.A. Entrance Test

  • Computer based National Entrance test ( TISS – NET ) will be held on 07th January, 2017 ( Saturday ), from 2pm to 3.40 pm in 39 centres located in different parts of the country. The computer based test is of objective type and even those with a rudimentary knowledge of working with a computer can take the test.
  • The objective test will have questions related to General Knowledge; Analytical Ability,  Logical Reasoning; and English Proficiency.

Note : This year General Awareness will consist of 40 marks, English Proficiency  30 marks, Maths and Logical Reasoning – 30 marks.

  • Details about time of TISS – NET test and duration of the test – 2 pm to 3.40 pm ( 1 hour & 40 minutes )

TISS NET 2017 Eligibility

Instructions for Determining TISS NET 2016 Eligibility to Apply :

  1. ‘Pass Class’ in the Bachelor’s Degree pursued by the applicant will be taken for determining his / her eligibility.
  2. Candidates who are in the final year of their Bachelor’s Degree program, but have not passed in all the courses ( main / major / subsidiary, etc. ) of the first and second years ( if the Degree is of 3 years duration ) and first, second and third years ( if the Degree is of 4 years duration ) on the day of applying for the program are not eligible to apply for any of the Master’s Degree programs offered by the Institute.
  3. Candidates who have been declared as failed in the final year examination are not eligible to apply for any of the Master’s Degree Programs of the Institute, unless they pass their Bachelor’s Degree examination on the day of applying for any of the programs.
  4. Eligibility, once determined on the basis of the information given by the candidates in the Application Form, shall be final for the purpose of test / interview / selection. However, in case it is found that the information furnished by a candidate is incorrect or misleading or ineligibility being detected before or after the test / interview / selection / admission, his / her candidature will be cancelled.
  5. If a provisionally admitted student fails in the final year of his / her Bachelor’s Degree Examination and even if he / she has re – evaluation at the university / college, he / she will not be allowed to continue the program as the offer of provisional admission stands automatically cancelled on his / her failure in the final year examination.

General Eligibility for TISS NET 2017 :

  • Candidates having a bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent ( under the 10 + 2+  3 or 10 + 2 + 4 or 10 + 2 + 2 + 1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education )  from a recognized university are eligible to apply
  • At the time of applying candidates studying in 3 year degree progremme should have passed in all the subjects for the 1st to 4th semesters and candidates studying in 4 year degree progrmmes should have passed in all the subjects for 1st to 6th semester.
  • Only those Candidates who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree examinations by  10th June, 2017 ( Monday ) are eligible to apply to all the programme.

TISS NET 2017 Application Form 

  • Candidates are required to apply online through the E – application process only via https://appln-admissions.tiss.edu/, please read through this page before filling in the application form. Candidates facing technical problems while filling in the application form may call 022 – 25525252 ( Monday to Saturday – Timing 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. )
  • However, candidates from remote places where no Internet and Telecommunication facilities are available can get a printed copy of the application form from the Institute.

TISS NET 2016 General Instructions Application Submission

Candidates have to apply through the online application form only. Following are the steps involved in filling up the form.

  1. The candidate has to register with an emailid. The candidate will be sent a password which is to be used to login and fill the online form.
  2. After login candidates have to fill in their basic details, academic details and have to mention the programs they wish to apply for in the order of preference.
  3. Pay the application fee ( depending on number of programs applied ) either by depositing cash in any branch of SBI or through Credit card / Debit Card / Net Banking and
  4. Scan and upload photograph, signature, marksheet of last exam passed and other necessary certificates.

General Instructions about applying :

  1. Candidates can apply for a maximum of three programs across any two of the TISS Campuses and other locations.
  2. Candidates are requested to read through the eligibility criteria mentioned here before filling up the form.
  3. Unemployed candidates, whose parent’s / guardian’s annual income from all the sources for the Financial Year 2015 – 16 is less than Rupee 2.5 Lakhs for SC / ST and Rupee 1 lakh for OBC( NC ) are required to pay Rupee 250/- as Concessional Application Fee for each programme. However they should upload the necessary certificates.
  4. Candidates have to upload / attach relevant certificates strictly in the format mentioned here. Please refer to the section ‘Certificates / Documents to be uploaded’.
  1. The application fees is Rupee 1030 ( if being payed by Credit card / Debit card / Net Banking ) or Rupee 1000 + bank charges ( if being payed through bank by cash ). Candidate has to pay this amount for every program he applies for. For more details refer to the section ‘Application fee payment’.
  2. A candidate can apply for multiple programs and pay for those programs in one online form and should not fill more than one form. If a candidate is found to have filled more than one online form, all his applications will be cancelled.

Notes :

  • Payments made via demand draft, pay order or any mode other than the above modes is not acceptable and the application will be rejected. No communication to this effect will be sent to such candidates.
  • In case of payment by cash deposit in an SBI branch, please note that the SBI will charge Rupee 50/- as their processing fee for each deposit, which cannot be adjusted against the application fee.
  • Candidates applying online will be asked to choose between two modes of payment ‘Cash’ or ‘Payment Gateway’ in the online application form. If the preferred mode of payment is ‘Cash’, a payment challan has to be downloaded from the ‘Download Challan’ tab. The payment challan will have 3 copies. Deposit the cash amount mentioned on the challan in any branch of State Bank Of India. The bank will return two copies of the challan ( Student Copy and TISS Copy ) with the banks seal, signature and journal number on it. Candidates have to scan the ‘TISS Copy’ of the challan, login back to the online application system and upload it.

TISS NET 2017 Admit Card

  • Issue of TISS NETAdmit Cards ( Online )  will be on 21st – 22nd December, 2016 Those candidates who have not received their admit card , can call TISS CARE : 022 – 2552 5252 OR may register their complaint by sending a mail to pgadmission@tiss.edu. Please note that candidates without an admit card won’t be allowed to attend the entrance test.
  • The PIT and PI for all the programs will be held at TISS Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati Campuses. The actual date of the PIT and PI of a candidate will be put up on the TISS website and will also be intimated to the candidate through e-mail. Short-listed candidates are requested to contact the Assistant Registrar ( Admissions ), in case they do not receive any mail with regard to the date of PIT and PI.
  • Request for change in the date for the computer based National Entrance Test will not be considered. However, a change in the dates for PIT and PI may be considered, if the date of PIT and PI at the TISS clashes with the date of entrance test of another Institution or the date of final year examination of the candidate. However, the candidate must produce documentary evidence for this. Please note that the changed date for PIT and PI will be only within the time schedule announced by TISS.
  • The test consists of Multiple choice questions and thus even those with rudimentary knowledge of working with computers or cell phones can do the test.
  • Candidates with visual impairment will be given an option to have a SCRIBE to assist them to complete the test. The SCRIBE should be an undergraduate student and should bring a valid ID proof at the time of the test. The Persons with Disabilities who has disability of 40% or more will get compensatory extra time of 20 minutes per hour.

TISS NET Selection Procedure 2017

  • The selection of candidates for different programs happens in two stages and has three components of assessment. All candidates appear for the National entrance test ( TISS NET ). Based on the performance in the TISS NET examination, only short listed candidates are called for the Pre Interview Test and Personal Interview. ( PIT / PI )

The candidate is expected to be acquainted with the programme for which he / she has applied for, as questions may be asked on the topic during the Personal Interview ( P I ).Personal Interview :

Note : Pre Interview Test ( PIT ) and Personal Interview  ( PI )  for programmes offered at  Mumbai, Tuljapur, MHAT, BANYAN and RANCHI will be conducted at the Mumbai Campus. For programmes offered at Hyderabad and Guwahati, the PIT / PI will be conducted at the respective campuses. Candidates applying for programmes at more than one campus, will have to travel to these places for PIT / PI.

TISS NET 2017 Exam Pattern

The computer based test is of objective type and even those with a rudimentary knowledge of working with a computer can take the test.

The objective test will have questions related to

  • General Knowledge
  • Analytical Ability
  • Logical Reasoning
  • English Proficiency

TISS NET 2017 will not have negative marking for any programme including HRM. Candidates who have applied for a single programme or multiple programmes will be attempting a single question paper with 100 questions for a duration of 100 minutes, this includes candidates who have chosen HRM in combination with other programmes.

TISS NET Merit List preparation :

  1. The weightage for NET, PIT and PI is as follows for the for the preparation of final merit lists for General as well as for Reserved Category candidates. NET – 40% ; PIT – 30% ; PI – 30%.
  2. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of merit and the preferences indicated by the candidates at the time of filling up the online application form ( Kindly Indicate your preferences carefully as it has implications for the merit list ).
  3. In case of a tie between two candidates, their PI marks will be compared and the one with more marks in PI will be considered, in case there is a tie in PI marks too their PIT marks will be compared and the one with more marks in PIT will be considered, in case there is a tie in PIT marks too then the Entrance test marks will be compared and the one with more marks in entrance test will be considered, in case there is a tie in Entrance marks too then the candidate higher in age will be given the seat.

Based on the merit list for each program, the list of selected candidates will be put up on the website. Each candidate will also receive his / her score card indicating the marks for each component of the examination process.
List of Selected Candidates and list of wait – listed candidates will be displayed on the TISS admission website www.admissions.tiss.edu.

Rules for preparation of the wait – list

  1. Candidates who get admission to the program of their first preference will not be on wait – lists for any other program mentioned in their list of preferences.
  2. Candidates who get admission into any program which is their second preference, will only be retained in the wait list of the first preference. Candidates who get admission into any program which is their third preference, will be retained in the wait list of their first and second preference.
  3. Candidates, who receive an admission in a program lower in their order of preferences, will be retained in the wait – list of a preference higher in the order, till the seats in that program are filled.
  4. In case, the candidates qualifies in two programs at the same time, when the wait list is activated, the higher preference will prevail. The Institute will offer admission only to the higher preference.
  5. When a candidate who has already taken admission in a program as per the first merit list is subsequently offered the higher preference when the wait list is activated, he / she will be moved into the program of higher preference and will be informed.

The candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC category should also send the Caste and Income certificates.24th April – 04th May, 2017
