Programme Name Intake Eligibility Criterion
Mathematics 30 A Pass in the Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks ( Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry ) for general category, 55% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates. The candidates should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
Physics 30 A Pass in the Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks ( Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry ) for general category, 55% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates. The candidates should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
Chemistry 30 A Pass in the Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks ( Chemistry, Mathematics & Physics ) for general category, 55% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates. The candidates should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
Life Sciences 30 A Pass in the Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks ( Biology, Physics & Chemistry ) for general category, 55% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates. The candidates should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.

 

INTEGRATED M. A. PROGRAM (FIVE-YEAR)

Economics* 30 A Pass in the Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with Economics / Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subject at the Hr. Secondary level with 60% marks in aggregate for general category, 55% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates. The candidates should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.

 

UG PROGRAM (THREE-YEAR)**
Programme Name Intake Eligibility Criterion
B.P.A. ( Music ) 15 A Pass in the Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks aggregate of marks for general category, 55% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates. The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.

 

PG Program ( TWO – YEAR )
Programme Name Intake Eligibility Criterion
M.A. English Studies 20 Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks for General Category, 50% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy Layer ), 45% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates with English as major or one of the major subjects. The candidates should not have completed 30 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
M.A. Classical Tamil 20 Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks for General Category, 50% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy Layer ), 45% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates with Tamil as a major subject or as one of the subjects. The candidates should not have completed 30 years of age as on 1st July, 2016. [ Candidates admitted may be provided scholarships and book grant by CICT ]. For CUCET passed candidates an interview / written test may be conducted by the Department in addition.
MSW (Master of Social Work) 20 Any Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks for general category, 50% marks OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates at Graduate level. The candidates should not have completed 30 years of age as on 01-07-2016.
M. A. Mass Communication 20 Any Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks for general category, 50% marks OBC ( Non – creamy Layer ) and 45% marks for SC / ST / PWD candidates at Graduate level. The candidates should not have completed 30 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
M.A. Hindi** 20 A Bachelor’s Degree in Hindi with at least 55% ( Gen ) [ 50% ( OBC Non - creamy Layer ) / 45% ( SC / ST / PWD ) ] of aggregate marks ( or ) any Bachelor’s Degree with at least 55 % ( Gen ) [ 50% ( OBC Non - creamy Layer ) / 45% ( SC / ST / PWD ) ] of marks in Hindi as Optional / Elective / Compulsory Language.
Note : A candidate who has Bachelor degree but had not studied Hindi as any of the subjects ( or ) does not have 55 % ( Gen ) [ 50% ( OBC Non - creamy Layer ) / 45 % ( SC / ST / PWD ) ] marks in Hindi as a language, should have qualified Oriental title equivalent to B.A. in Hindi recognized by the Central or State Government with 50% of marks. ( The candidate has to submit the equivalence certificate from the concerned institution at the time of admission ).The candidates should not have completed 30 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
M.A. Economics** 20 Any Bachelors Degree of a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks for general category, 50% marks for OBC ( Non – creamy Layer ), 45% marks for SC / ST / PWD Candidates and had studied Economics/Mathematics / Statistics at UG level. The candidates should not have completed 24 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
M. Sc. Chemistry 16 Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry ( Main ) or with Chemistry as one of the major subjects. Candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA ( on a 10 – point scale ) in the qualifying degree examination for General category, 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA ( on a 10 point scale ) for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% aggregate marks or 5.5 CGPA ( on a 10 – point scale ) for SC / ST / PWD candidates. The candidates should not have completed 24 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
M. Sc. Computer Science** 20 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences / Mathematics / or any Bachelor’s degree in Science stream with Mathematics as one of the subjects for at least four semesters. Candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA ( on a 10-point scale ) in the qualifying degree examination for General category, 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) for OBC ( Non – creamy layer ) and 50% aggregate marks or 5.5 CGPA ( on a 10 – point scale ) for SC / ST candidates. The candidates should not have completed 24 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.
M. Tech. Material Science** 24 M. Sc. Physics / Chemistry / Applied Physics / Applied Chemistry / Material Science / Nano Science / Nano Technology or BE / B. Tech. ( except Computer Science / IT ). Minimum marks in the qualifying examination for admission is 60% for General Category, 55% for OBC ( Non – creamy Layer ) and 50% for SC / ST candidates. The candidates should not have completed 30 years of age as on 1st July, 2016.

English Applicants may check the university website for the intake, which will be updated in due course A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree ( two years duration ) with a minimum of 55% marks [ 50% for OBC ( Non - creamy layer ) and 45% for SC / ST / PWD ] in the concerned or an allied subject, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University / Institute. UGC – NET qualified Candidates are exempted from Entrance test. Interview / written test may be conducted by the department in addition to the above.
Physics A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree ( two years duration ) with a minimum of 55% marks [ 50% for OBC ( Non - creamy layer ) and 45% for SC / ST / PWD ] in Physics, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute. UGC – CSIR NET / GATE / Equivalent national fellowship candidates are exempted from Entrance Test.
Chemistry A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC ( Non - creamy layer ) and 45% for SC / ST / PWD in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry or equivalent degree, preceded by a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute. UGC-CSIR NET / GATE / Equivalent national fellowship candidates are exempted from Entrance Test.
Tamil A consistently good academic record possessing a Master's Degree ( two years duration ) with a minimum of 55% marks [ 50% for OBC ( Non - creamy layer ) and 45% for SC / ST / PWD in Master’s degree in Tamil / equivalent subject in Tamil , preceded by a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University. For CUCET passed candidates, an Interview may be conducted by the Department. UGC - NET qualified Candidates are exempted from Entrance test, for them a written test and interview may be conducted by the Department in addition.
Life Sciences A consistently good academic record possessing a Master's Degree ( two years duration ) with a minimum of 55% marks [ 50% for OBC ( Non - creamy layer ) and 45% for SC / ST / PWD in Life Sciences / Zoology / Animal Sciences / Biomedical Sciences / Biological Sciences / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Genetics / Botany / Plant Sciences, preceded by a Bachelor's Degree of three years duration from a recognized University / Institute. UGC-CSIR NET / GATE qualified Candidates are exempted from Entrance Test.
Economics A consistently good academic record possessing a Master's Degree ( two years duration ) in Economics with a minimum of 55% marks [ 50% for OBC ( Non - creamy layer ) and 45% for SC / ST / PWD ] overall marks, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute. Candidates with UGC-JRF are exempted from entrance test.
Mathematics A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree ( two years duration ) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC ( Non - creamy layer ) and 45% for SC / ST / PWD in Mathematics, preceded by a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University / Institute. The selection will also be based on the interview conducted by the Department. Candidates with UGC - CSIR JRF, GATE, NBHM or qualified in any other National level Exams for admission into PhD programmes are exempted from entrance test.
****Note: All those candidates who have cleared National Level Examinations for admission into PhD programmes i.e. UGC - CSIR JRF or equivalent will have to apply through CUCET 2016 online portal and they will be exempted from CUCET 2016 Entrance Exam. However, they will have to appear for INTERVIEW. ONLY shortlisted candidates will be called for Interview. Some of the Departments may conduct Written test at the time of interview, if required.

CUTN 2016 Application Instructions

Central University of Tamil Nadu application form and fee Challan can be downloaded from the University’s website www.cucet16.co.in. The last date for submitting the filled – in applications to the University is 15th April, 2016.

*For payment through online / debit / credit card, an extra charges of Rupee 10 to Rupee 15 as levied by service provider shall be charged to the candidates.** As decided by the Coordinating University, after negotiation with SBI on 22nd February, 2016.

Note :

1. All challans generated upto 24:00 hrs on 15th April, 2016 can be paid upto 18 th April, 2016. The bank will not accept any fees after this date.
2. A candidate may choose maximum three universities and maximum three courses in each university on one – time fee payment.
