Ravenshaw University PG 2017 Eligibility

Admission into Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Geology, Commerce, Applied Geography, Economics, Education, English, Hindi, History, Odia, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Sanskrit Require second class honours with minimum 50% marks in the concerned subject.
Statistics Either Statistics or Mathematics as a subject with minimum 50% mark in the undergraduate level.
Biotechnology Honours in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry or any other subject relating to Life Sciences with minimum 50% marks
Computer Science and Information Technology Management ( ITM ) Honours in Computer Science / ITM / IST or B.Tech. in Computer Science/ IT / Electronics / BCA with minimum 50% marks.
Electronics and Telecommunication ( ETC ) Honours in Electronics / IST/ ITM / Computer Science / IT / Physics / Mathematics or B.Tech. in Electronics / Computer Science / IT or Equivalent with minimum 50% marks.
Journalism and Mass Communication ( JMC ) Graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in honours or 50% in aggregate ( for students having no honours ).
Rural Development Graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in honours or 50% in aggregate ( for students having no honours ).
International Studies Graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in honours or 50% in aggregate ( for students having no honours ).
Entrepreneurship Second class with minimum 50% marks in B.Com Honours.

N.B. : Those who have passed the Three – year Degree Course Examination from a University / Institution ( situated outside the state of Odisha ) where provision of teaching in Honours does not exist, will be eligible to apply for PG course provided they have taken the examination in the concerned subject with minimum of 8 papers carrying at least 800 marks, subject to the fulfillment of the minimum eligibility condition as laid down above.

Ravenshaw University PG 2017 Exam Pattern

Multiple choice questions will be set in the Entrance Test. The responses to the questions shall be made on the OMR sheet by darkening the relevant oval in blue or black ball point pen. The duration of Entrance Test shall be of two hours.

There shall be 100 questions and all are compulsory, each carrying one mark. There is negative marking in the entrance test. For each wrong answer 0.25 mark will be deducted. The syllabi for Entrance Test in various subjects are same as the UG ( Honours ) syllabi of Ravenshaw University. The candidates are advised to check the same available in the Ravenshaw University website www.ravenshawuniversity.ac.in. For example, the candidates applying for M.Sc. in Applied Geography are required to follow UG ( Honours ) syllabi of Geography in the University website. However, the detailed syllabi for Entrance Test in the following subjects.

Ravenshaw University PG 2017 Reservation of Seats

  • Scheduled Caste ( SC ) – 16.25%, Scheduled Tribe ( ST ) –22.50%, Ex – Service Men and Family ( ESM ) – 1%, Service Defence Personnel ( SDP ) – 1%, Physically Handicapped ( PH ) with 40% & above disability – 3%, Sports – 1%, N.S.S.- 1%. However, any subsequent modification in the reservation policy as per Government of Odisha notification will be notified accordingly.
  • In case of non – fulfillment of reserved seats, they shall be de – reserved.
  • In calculation of reserved seats, any fraction equal / above 0.5 shall be counted as one while the decimal less than 0.5 shall be ignored.
  • Weightage of 5% and 10% of marks secured by the candidate in the entrance test for representing university and State in Cultural Troupes in the last three years, respectively. The weightage is subject to the enclosure of relevant certificate, to the satisfaction of the authority, with the application form.
  • Sports events, approved by the Indian Association of Universities, will only be considered for reservation. Sports certificate must be countersigned by the Director of Sports and Youth Services.
  • During admission process for different courses of the University, admission will be given to the national and international players ( those who represent the state and country in events conducted by Association of Indian Universities ), into PG courses over and above the sanctioned strength and subject to a maximum of 3% of the total sanctioned strength in the concerned course.
  • SC / ST certificate should be from competent authority ( District magistrate / Collector / ADM / SDM / SDO / Executive magistrate / Tahashildar / Additional Tahasildar / BDO ).
  • PH certificate should be from the CDMO. Temporary PH certificate / PH less than 40% will not be considered.
  • Reservation of seats is not applicable for candidates of outside the state
  • For Kashmiri migrant students, a relaxation in cut off percentage upto 10% subject to minimum eligibility requirement and intake capacity upto 5% coursewise. No domicile certificate is required for Kashmiri migrants.
  • Two seats are reserved under supernumerary quota for students from Jammu & Kashmir.

Ravenshaw University PG 2017 Application Form

Candidates seeking admission into different UG courses of the University shall submit online application available in the Ravenshaw University Website www.ravenshawuniversity.ac.in at the link ‘ADMISSION – 2017’.

All applicants should have a valid email ID before applying for admission into PG courses. All applicants should keep ready a scanned copy of passport size photograph, 10th class / matriculation certificate / certificate cum marksheet, scanned copy of signature and scanned copy of bank challan ( if paying the entrance fee through this mode ) ( all in .jpg / .JPEG file format ) before filling up the online application form. All communications from the University to the candidates will be through Ravenshaw University website.

Step 1 : Registration and Deposit of Application Fee

Application Fee for all UG Courses is: Rs. 300/- ( to be paid online at the time of application ). Online registration form is available in the Ravenshaw University Website www.ravenshawuniversity.ac.in. Applicants are required to fill all the entries in the online registration form before pressing the submit button. The applicants are required to pay the Application Fee after submitting application online.

  • Applicants are required to fill all the entries in the online application form before pressing the submit button.
  • After submission of the application online, candidates are required to take two printouts of the application form ( One copy will be retained by the candidate and the other one will be sent to the university )

Step 3 : Submission of filled application form and documents ( Hard Copy )

  • The applicants are required to send the following documents by Registered post or Speed post in an A4 size envelope to the Registrar, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, 753003 after online application so as to reach the University office
  • Candidate can also submit the documents by hand at Ravenshaw University Counter.  Ravenshaw University will not be held responsible for any postal delay. The applicants are required to write “APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO PG COURSE IN _____SUBJECT” on the top of the A4 size envelope.

Ravenshaw University MPhil 2017 Eligibility

Candidates for admission to the M.Phil. program should have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC / ST / Differently – Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.

Ravenshaw University MPhil 2017 Exam Pattern

Questions for Ravenshaw University M.Phil entrance examination will be both objective and subjective based on the PG level course of Ravenshaw University.

Time duration of entrance examination will be 2 hours. Full Marks is 100 and there is no negative marking.

Candidates seeking admission into different M.Phil programs of the University should follow the following steps for successful submission of application. The online application must be submitted on or before 15th May, 2017.

All applicants should have a valid email ID before applying for admission into M.Phil Programs. All communications from the University to the candidates will be through email and website.

Ravenshaw University 2017 PhD Eligibility

The eligibility marks of 55% ( or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed ) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.

A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. program of the same Institution

Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. program.

In addition to the above, in order to be called for the interview, an applicant must also fulfil any one of the following conditions :

  • Successful clearance of the written part of Research Eligibility Test ( RET ). A candidate should secure a minimum of 50% marks in written examination to qualify for the interview.
  • Qualification of any of the following examinations : NET / JRF ( conducted by UGC / CSIR / DBT / other national tests with eligibility for research), SLET, GATE or INSPIRE Fellowship, Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship, Maulana Azad Fellowship, UGC National Fellowship for OBC candidates etc.
  • Possession of an M.Phil. degree from any university recognized by the UGC, complete with course work having minimum 300 marks or 24 credits, including a review work or a dissertation.

For Business Administration a student having M.Sc. / M.A. / M.Com. / LLM / or an equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade OR M.Tech. / M.E. / MCA / MBA / or an equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade is eligible.

For Computer Science a student having M.Sc. or an equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade OR M.Tech. / M.E. / MCA / MBA / or an equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade is eligible.

The first three years of PhD program is full time. A candidate, once selected for admission to Ph D Program, has to produce No Objection Certificate and Relieve Order from the employer, if he / she is employed in any institution.

Ravenshaw University PhD 2017 Exam Pattern

Questions for written examination will be objective/ subjective/ both objective and subjective types based on the PG level course of Ravenshaw University. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.

Time duration of written component will be 2 hours.

Full Marks is 100.

To qualify for interview, the candidate must obtain at least 50 % marks in written component.

The syllabus for Research Eligibility Test ( RET ) will be the same as prescribed for Post Graduate ( Master’s Degree ) syllabus of Ravenshaw University in the respective subject.

Candidates seeking admission into Ph.D. program of different courses through Research Eligibility Test ( RET ) of the University should follow the following steps for successful submission of application. The online application must be submitted on or before 15th May, 2017.

All applicants should have a valid email ID before applying for admission into Ph.D. program. All applicants should keep ready a scanned copy of a passport size photograph and scanned copy of signature ( all in .jpg / .JPEG file format ) before filling up the online application form. All communications from the University to the candidates will be through website.

Ravenshaw University PhD 2017 Selection Procedure

The merit list for Ph.D Courses will be prepared on the basis.

  • Performance of the candidate in the written examination – 70%
  • Interview – 30%

N.B. : A candidate has to secure a minimum of 30% in the Written Test to be eligible to appear in the interview.

However, those who are exempted from written examination, their selection shall be made on the basis of performance in the interview only. In such cases, the interview shall be of 100 marks.
