Master of Public Health – Field Epidemiology (MPH – FE): A Two-year Course
The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) was started in 1963 as an apex institution under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and Government of India. The functions of the Institute broadly cover three areas, viz., trained health manpower development: specialized epidemiological investigative and diagnostic services; and applied research. The institute has a vast experience in outbreak investigation at national & international level, conducting operational studies and developing trained manpower. It has been designated as the “WHO Collaborating Centre for Epidemiology and Training” since 1996. The main objective of the Centre is to strengthen the epidemiological support services in South East Asian countries.
Candidates fulfilling the following criteria are eligible to apply for the course:
1. Candidates with MBBS degree from any recognised institution.
2. Non – medical candidates with M.Sc. in Biosciences/ allied subjects or B.Tech. in Biotechnology from recognised university are also eligible to apply.
In – service personnel with MBBS degree from any recognised institution having five years experience preferably in State or Central Services or Public & Private Sectors in Medical Institutions, of which last 3 years should be in public health activities. The candidates should be sponsored for two years on a full – time basis to NICD by the respective government/ organization.
The upper age limit is 45 years for in – service candidates and 28 years for others as on the date of commencement of the course.
NUMBER OF SEATS:
Intake will be limited to a maximum of 20 seats. Selection will be on merit basis as detailed in the Information Bulletin for the course.
Last date for receipt of Completed Application form at NICD is 25th November 2005.
Application form and Information Bulletin for admission to the 2005 – 06 academic sessions will be available from 10th November 2005 to 25th November 2005 (2.00 PM) on payment of Rs.200/- in cash at the institute. For obtaining the same by registered post, a crossed demand draft for Rs.250/- in favour of “Director, NICD” payable at “Delhi” should be sent to the Administrative Officer (I), National Institute of Communicable Diseases, 22 – Sham Nath Marg, Delhi – 110 054, so as to reach him by 17th November, 2005.
