Notification For All India Common Entrance Examination (All India Preveterinary Test)- 2007 For Admission To B.V.Sc. & A.H. Course

Veterinary Council of India invites applications for Entrance examination for filling up 15% of total number of seats to be filled on Merit in each Government Veterinary College in India (except from Jammu & Kashmir State) from Indian Nationals for admission to 1st year of BV.Sc. & AH course for academic session 2007 – 2008.

Note: Students from the State of Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible to appear in this test, and that State has not adopted the provisions of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. The details may be seen in the Information Bulletin / Website

Date and Venue of Examination: Saturday the
12th May, 2007 (time 2 to 5 P.M.) at the centers (cities) stated in the Information Bulletin)

Duration Of Course: The duration of B.V.Sc. & AH degree course is spread over five complete academic year including a compulsory rotating of six months.

Eligibility Criteria:

Qualification Examination:

A candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination (after a period of 12 years of study) the last two years of study with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research and Training or equivalent qualification as prescribed in the Veterinary Council of India – Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education Degree Course (B.V.Sc. & AH) Regulations, 1993, OR

Candidates who have passed the B.Sc. examination from a recognized University with not less than two of the following subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany / Zoology) and passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

To be eligible for appearing in entrance examination, the candidates must have passed the qualifying Examination obtaining not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. In respect of candidates belonging to the SC/ST or other special category of students as specified the Government from time to time, marks required at the qualifying examination shall be 10% less than that prescribed for general category.

A candidates who is taking up the qualifying examination prior to the Entrance Examination, or whose result is awaited, may also apply and take the examination but he / she shall not be eligible for admission to the B.V.Sc. & AH Programme, if he / she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required percentage of marks as prescribed at 3 (ii) above, on or before 30th June 2007 and submit the documentary proof during counseling if selected

Age: The candidate has attained or will attain age of seventeen (17) years on 31st December 2007.

Mode of Sale of Information Bulletin and application Form:

The Information Bulletin and Application Form can be obtained by post of payment of Rs.750/- for General Category and Rs.400/- for SC / ST category (including examination fee, handling and other charges) through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Veterinary Council of India” payable at New Delhi on Scheduled Bank from the office of Controller of Examination Veterinary Council of India, ‘A’ Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi – 110066. While requesting Information Bulletin and Application Form, the candidates should send: –

Demand Draft (Cash / Money order / Indian Postal Order / Cheque or any other form of payment will NOT be accepted. Demand Draft issued prior to the date of advertisement will not be accepted).

Two plain paper slips with complete address (in Capital Letters) with Pin- Code.

Note: The Council shall not be responsible to any delay, or non-receipt of Information Bulletin and Application Form, due to postal lapses or wrong / incomplete address informed by the candidate.

Date of Sale of Information Bulletin and Application Form by Hand / Post: 19th January 2007 to 19th February 2007.

Sale counter of bank / counters other than the office of Veterinary Council of India will not sent the Information Bulletin by post. Hence, no request should be made to the bank / other counters for sending the Information Bulletin and Application Form by post.

Vijaya Bank or its specified branches and designated sale counters (State Veterinary Councils and University) shall not be responsible for any consequences that may arise due to non-availability of forms from Bank / Aforesaid designated centers. In case, copies of Application Forms are sold out before the last date at any of the branches and the same are not available with Vijaya Bank / Designated centers of Council, the candidates should get the same from the office of the Veterinary Council of India, “A” Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi –66 by sending Demand Drafts as stated above. The request along with Demand draft should reach office of Council on or before 19th February 2007.

No correspondence regarding purchase of Information Bulletin and Application Form will be entertained after closing date of sale. General candidates applying on Forms meant for SC / ST category shall be rejected.

Last date of Submission of Application: Form duly filled ad signed by the candidate should reach the office of the Council latest by 28th February 2007.

Forms received after the last date shall not be considered. The information is also available on Website of Council

Note: For the Applications posted from the remote areas viz. Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Lahaul and Spiti districts and Pangi sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, the last date of receipt shall be 15th March 2007
