Nativity

  • Candidate should be a citizen of India
  • Candidates should be Native of Tamil Nadu
  • Candidates belonging to other States cannot claim nativity of Tamil Nadu
  • Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu and have studied 8th Std to 12th standard in schools of Tamil Nadu and studied Diploma in Nursing course for a period of 3 or 3 ½ years in Tamil Nadu need not enclose the “Nativity Certificate”.
  • Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu, but have studied 8th Std to 12th standard in and Diploma in Nursing course for a period of 3 or 3 ½ years outside Tamil Nadu either partly or completely in one or more states should produce the Nativity Certificate along with true copies of their parent’s certificates such as Birth Certificate / SSLC / HSC / Transfer Certificate and Ration Card / Passport to substantiate their place of birth in Tamil Nadu, to establish the relationship betweenthe parent and the candidate along with the Nativity Certificate of the candidate.
  • The Certificate of Nativity in Tamil Nadu of the candidate should be issued by the competent authority only and supported by a copy of Passport / Aadhar / Voter’s ID / Driving License. If the copy of the supporting document is not produced, then the application will be summarily rejected.
  • Candidates who are native of Tamil Nadu alone will be considered for communal reservation.
  • Other State candidates who are not native of Tamil Nadu but who have Studied 8th standard to 12th standard and studied Diploma in Nursing course for a period of 3 or 3 ½ years in Tamil Nadu will be treated as OC ( Open Competition )

Age Limit

  • Candidates should not have completed 45 years as on 31st December, 2018. Evidence should be produced.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates belonging to all categories should have passed in Diploma in Nursing Examination with a pass in the HSC or Equivalent Examination recognized by the university and registered as Nurse & Midwife in the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council or any other State Nursing Council
  • Should have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council or any other state Nursing Council.

  • The admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course is open to both men and women in the ratio of 1: 9 ( 10% for men and 90% for women ). The third gender candidates who identify themselves as female by self declaration supported by the certificate ( ID Card ) issued by the Tamil Nadu Third Welfare Board ( TNGWB ) are also eligible toget allotment as female candidates.

Service Category

  • Candidates who have completed two years of continuous regular service as on 31st May, 2018 in Tamil Nadu Medical Service on a regular basis will beconsidered as Service candidates
  • Service candidates should send their application through the Head of the Medical College Hospital / Institution in which they are presently working.
  • Candidates who are serving purely under temporary category in Tamil Nadu Medical Service will be considered for selection under open quota as non-service candidates only.
  • Service candidates taking allotment in Self-financing colleges will not be paid salary and they have to avail leave to which they are eligible for the period of study on their own after obtaining prior permission from their Head of the Department concerned.

  • The candidates shall ensure that the completed application and scrutinyform with all particulars and enclosures reaches the Selection Committee within the date and time specified i.e., on or before 04th October, 2018. Applications received after the last date & time will not be accepted.
  • The Selection Committee shall not be responsible for any delay in the receipt or for the loss in transit of application form etc.,
  • Request for extension of time for submission of documents called for, after the specified date and time will not be entertained.
  • Any application or the supporting documents or any other particulars received after the due date of application will not be accepted.
  • Candidates seeking admission under Special Category for Post Basic B.Sc.( N ) Course under Orthopaedically Physically Disabled shall submit a separate Special Category Form along with the main application in the prescribed format available along with an additional fee of [rupee]100/- by way of Demand Draft enclosing with the relevant certificates. If the Certificates are not enclosed by the candidates, they will not be considered under the special category without any intimation to the candidate.
  • The demand drafts should be drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10”. payable at Chennai.
  • Both upper limbs, vision and hearing should be normal for all candidates ( including the candidates applying under Orthopaedically physically disabled
    category ).

  • The selection will be made on merit basis and by counselling applying the Rule of reservation / Roster method followed by the Government of Tamil Nadu whichever is applicable.
  • Any remaining unfilled seats for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to SCA community shall be filled by candidates belonging to SC community other than Arunthathiyar as per merit and vice versa. ( G.O.Ms No.55 / P & AR Department dated: 08th April, 2010 )
  • Any remaining reserved seats in ST Quota for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to ST community shall be allotted to candidates belonging to SC Community as per merit. ( G.O.Ms.No.77 /Health & Family Welfare Department ( MCA1 ) dated 24th February, 2011 )

Government of Tamilnadu BSC ( Nursing ) Counselling 2018

  • Selection and Admission will be made on merit basis for all categories of seats in Post Basic B.Sc., ( Nursing ) Course through counselling, following the rule of reservation / Roster method followed by the Government of Tamil Nadu as per G.O. Ms. No: 206 / P & AR ( K ) Dept, dated: 6t Novembe, 2008, whichever is applicable and availability of seats. Any change or modification and relevant information pertaining to this admission process will be made available immediately on the websites www.tnhealth.org / www.tnmedicalselection.org
  • Counselling for the special Category will be done before the General Category. There will be no re- allotment / change of college allotted for the Special Category.
  • One of the parent will be allowed to attend the counselling. The Candidates and Parents accompanying them should make their own arrangements for attending the counselling session.
  • Candidates who fail to attend the counselling session when called for by the Secretary, Selection Committee, will forfeit his / her right to claim for admission to Post Basic B.Sc.( Nursing ) and his / her name will not be considered further. However, the Selection Committee reserves the right to permit the candidate to attend the counselling later, if a valid reason for absence is communicated to the Selection Committee before the commencement of the counselling. The candidate so permitted can only claim the course and college available at the time of counselling when he / she actually attends.
  • Due to unforeseen reasons, if a candidate could not attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he / she can authorize her parent on her behalf and the parent decision will be binding on the candidate.
  • If the candidate is absent during the 1st phase of counselling for which he / she is called, cannot attend the subsequent phases of counselling.
  • At the time of counselling, candidates can choose the College of their choices on merit basis and the same will be allotted as per the availability of seats.
  • Candidates can exercise their option for the College of their own choice at the time of counselling and allotment will be subject to availability of seats.
  • The movement of candidate from self financing to Government colleges and from one college to another college ( only for Government colleges ) will be based on the merit and following the rule of reservation / roster method.
  • If the candidate opts out of a seat at the time of counselling, he / she cannot claim the seat from which he/she opted out at any point of time for the current session.
  • Individual request for transfer of college will not be entertained.
  • Mutual transfer will not be entertained.
  • All selections for Post Basic B.Sc ( Nursing ) Course are only provisional. The Selection and admission is liable to be cancelled at any time as and when the eligibility conditions are found to be defective in addition to revelation of suppressed and overlooked facts.
  • All communication will be sent only to the mailing address given by the candidate as in the application.
  • The candidates are instructed to visit the official websites
  • www.tnhealth.org / www.tnmedicalselection.org  frequently from the date of application to till the end of counselling without Fail. Please do not wait for counselling information to be received by post, as all information including the date of counselling will be put up in the websites.
  • Counselling schedule for POST BASIC B.Sc Nursing will be available at official websites only.
  • Call letter will be sent either by Register Post / Speed Post / Courier Service whichever is feasible. Selection Committee is not responsible for any postal delay or non-receipt of call letter. Call letter can also be downloaded from the websites.
  • Call letter for counselling does not guarantee any admission, since more number of candidates are called than the actual number of vacancies.
  • All candidates attending the counselling for Post Basic B.Sc ( Nursing ) Course will have to remit a non-refundable amount of[rupee] 250/- by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of” The Secretary, Selection Committee,Kilpauk,Chennai-10” payable at Chennai as processing fee.

Government of Tamilnadu  MSC ( Nursing ) Eligibility 2018

  • Candidates seeking admission to the M.Sc ( Nursing ) Course should be citizens of India and natives of Tamil Nadu.
  • Candidates of Tamil Nadu Nativity who have completed B.Sc ( Nursing ) in other States should furnish a Certificate of Nativity in Tamil Nadu issued by the Competent Authority only and supported by a copy of Passport / Ration Card / Voter’s ID / Driving License . If the copy of the supporting document is not submitted, then the application form will be rejected.
  • Nativity Certificate submitted later will be summarily rejected.
  • Candidates should possess a B.Sc Nursing Degree awarded by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University or any other University recognized as Equivalent thereto by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University / Indian Nursing Council. Candidates who have qualified from other universities should obtain and produce an Eligibility Certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University at the time of counselling, failing which they will not be considered for selection.
  • Candidates seeking admission to the M.Sc ( Nursing ) course should have obtained not less than 55% ( 50% for SC/ST candidates ) of the total marks obtained in all semesters taken together in the B.Sc. ( Nursing ) Degree Course. In case of failures  the pass marks in the subsequent attempts shall be taken for calculation purpose. Number of attempts is not considered for calculation of marks.
  • A candidate who has already completed or acquired a M.Sc ( Nursing ) in any speciality or who is undergoing a M.Sc ( Nursing ) in any speciality is not eligible to apply for any other speciality in M.Sc ( Nursing ) course.
  • Candidates who have discontinued the course after the cutoff date fixed by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. University ( 31st October, 2018 ) are not eligible to apply for two subsequent academic years from the date of discontinuance of the course.
  • B.Sc ( Nursing ) Graduates should have one year of experience after Basic B.Sc ( Nursing ) or one year of experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc ( Nursing ) in any teaching Hospital / Nursing College / School of Nursing / Community Health Centres from the date of Registration ( from the date of receipt of the acknowledgement of registration of the Nurses and Midwives Council ) in any of the State Councils in the country. Fractional Values will not be accounted.
  • The following categories of B.Sc ( Nursing ) Graduates will be treated as Service candidates for selection under the seats reserved exclusively for service candidates.
    • B.Sc ( Nursing ) graduates who are serving in Tamil Nadu Medical Service on a regular basis and who have completed two years of service as on 31st August, 2018
    • B.Sc ( Nursing ) graduates who are serving in local bodies on regular basis and who have completed 2 years of service as on 31st August, 2018
  • The following categories of B.Sc ( Nursing ) Graduates will be considered for selection as non – service candidates only.
    • B.Sc ( Nursing ) graduates who are serving in Govt. of India Institutions in Tamil Nadu / Public Sector undertaking and organization under control of Government of India in Tamil Nadu.
    • B.Sc ( Nursing ) Graduates who are serving purely on temporary basis in Tamil Nadu Medical Service / Local bodies.
    • B.Sc ( Nursing ) Graduates serving in Private sector.

Government of Tamilnadu MSC ( Nursing ) Selection Process 2018

  • The Selection will be made by, counselling based on merit and by applying the Rule of Reservation / Roster method followed by the Government of Tamil Nadu wherever applicable. Roster method of rule of reservation will be followed if the seats are more than 1 and less than 8 in each branch as per G.O.Ms.No.241 / dt.29-10-07 of P&AR ( K ) Dept. of Government of Tamil Nadu. This is subject to the final verdict of the Supreme Court of India in the SLP 14014-15 /09 filed by this Govt. against the orders passed by the Bench of the High Court of Madras dated 12.05.2009 in W.A Nos.763 & 764  / 2007 and W.P No 7067 / 2009. If the seats are 8 and more, the rule of reservation shall be as follows:-
    • Open Competition – 31%
    • Backward Class – 30%
    • Most Backward / Denotified – 20%
    • Scheduled Caste – 18%
    • Scheduled Tribe – 1%
  • Within the 30% reservation for Backward Classes 3.5% reservation will be provided for Muslims and 16% of seats out of 18% Quota earmarked to Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar Community.
  • 50% of seats in each speciality and in each college are reserved for service candidates, in addition to those service candidates selected in the open category. In case an odd number seat remains in any speciality in the total seats sanctioned for that speciality, that seat shall be filled by merit and communal reservation .
  • The odd seat stated above is preferable to each speciality and not to each college.
    Example: – There are 13 seats in each speciality of Nursing- 8 seats in Madras Medical College and 5 seats in Madurai Medical College with 7 seats ( 4 Seats in Madras Medical College + 3 Seats in Madurai Medical College ) for the open category and 6 seats ( 4 Seats in Madras Medical College + 2 Seats in Madurai Medical College ) for the Service Category.
  • For the newly sanctioned seats in Government Colleges after the I Phase of counselling, reallotment of courses / colleges will be permitted as per merit and communal reservation from rank one. Joined and Waitlisted candidates only can attend the counselling for the allotment of the above seats.
  • Any remaining unfilled seats for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to SCA community shall be filled by candidates belonging to SC community other than Arunthathiyar as per merit and vice versa. ( G.O.( Ms ).No. 55, P & AR Department,dated 08th April, 2010 )
  • Any remaining reserved seats in ST Quota for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to ST community shall be allotted to candidates belonging to SC Community as per merit. ( G.O. ( Ms ) No.77, Health & Family Welfare Department ( MCA 1 ),dated  24th February, 2011).
  • Any remaining unfilled seats in BCM Community for want of adequate number of eligible candidates after exhausting the merit list shall be filled up on merit basis by candidates belonging to BC community without exceeding the quota for BC community as a whole. ( G.O.( Ms )No.30,Health & Family Welfare Department ( MCA 1 ), dated 18th January, 2012.).
  • Even after filling up of the required seats reserved for Arunthathiyars on preferential basis, if more number of qualified Arunthathiyars are available, such excess number of candidates of Arunthathiyars shall be entitled to compete with the Scheduled Castes other than Arunthathiyars in the inter-se merit among them( G.O.Ms.No.65, dated 27th May, 2009 of P&AR ( K ) Department ).
  • Seat sharing between Government quota and management quota seats in self-financing paramedical institutions will be as per existing state Government policy and applicable court orders.
  • Service candidates taking allotment in Self-financing colleges will not be paid salary and they have to avail leave to which they are eligible for the period of study on their own after obtaining prior permission from their Head of Directorate concerned.
  • Stipend / Fee structure / Bond amount / any other conditions will be as per the Institution admitted into.

Government of Tamilnadu MSC ( Nursing ) Counselling 2018

  • Allotment of seats will be done by counselling based on merit following the rule of reservation / roster system in force in the State of Tamil Nadu and as per all other terms and conditions contained in the Government Order issued and to be issued from time to time with regard to rule of reservation. 
  • Candidates will be called for counselling according to their ranks in batches
  • Option once given during the counselling cannot be changed later. Request for change of speciality / college from one to another is not permitted after an option has been exercised at the time of counselling.
  • Re-allotment for the Speciality / College will be permitted only during 2nd phase of counselling.
  • Request for transfer from one college / speciality will not be allowed strictly after the cut off date.
  • Individual request for transfer of college will not be entertained during or after counseling.
  • Mutual transfers will not be permitted under any circumstances.
  • Candidates selected for admission should give a declaration in the form given at the time of counselling that he / she is liable for forfeiture of selection / admission if suppression of facts are found at any time during or after admission to the course. The selection / admission shall be liable for cancellation based on the declaration at any time during or after the admission to the course. Further he / she will not be allowed to apply for the M.Sc ( Nursing ) Degree Course for Two Years ( Session ).
  • Due to unforeseen reasons, if a candidate cannot attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he / she can authorize a representative to attend the counselling on his/ her behalf. The authorized representative should produce an undertaking and authority letter for allotment in the format given in the Annexure VII ( A & B ) along with requisite original documents. The allotment made to the authorized representative shall be binding on the candidate.
  • Candidates who are absent at the scheduled time and date of counselling without a valid reason for absence will not be considered for admission. However the Selection Committee reserves the right to permit the candidate to attend the counselling if a valid reason for absence is communicated to the Selection Committee. The candidate so permitted can only claim the course and college available at the time of counselling when he / she actually attends during that phase only.
  • If the candidate is absent during the first phase of counselling, he / she cannot attend the second phase of counselling.
  • Strict discipline should be maintained by the candidates for smooth conduct of counselling. If the candidates found indulging in any untoward activities, they will be debarred from the counselling and selection for the present and subsequent sessions.
  • The candidates appearing for allotment by personal appearance should bring the documents enclosed along with application in original. In any case candidates without original certificate / documents, shall not be allowed to participate in the counselling. Candidates who have deposited their original documents to the institution/ Universities and appear for counselling with a certificate stating that “their original certificates are submitted with institution / University” will NOT be allowed to participate in counselling.

  • The candidates are instructed to visit the websites from the date of application till the end of counselling without fail. All information including the date of counselling will be put up in the website. Call letters can only be downloaded from the websites. Candidates will be permitted for counselling accordingly.
  • All candidates attending the counselling for M.Sc ( Nursing ) Degree Course will have to remit a non- refundable amount of [rupee] 500/- by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10” as processing fee.
  • The candidates who are selected shall pay at the time of counselling , the tuition fee in total as prescribed in Clause 32 for Government Colleges by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10”, payable at Chennai at the time of receipt of the allotment orders. After the receipt of the joining report from the Deans of the respective colleges, this amount will be transferred to the Colleges concerned. The fee is not refundable if the candidate does not join or discontinues the course.
