The Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), rated among the top 20 institutions in the country (as per the Dataquest IDC NASSCOM survey last year), has released the admission notification for the coming academic year's B.E programmes.
Admissions to NSIT is held under a Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) by the University of Delhi. Successful candidates are eligible for admission to the First Semester B.E. course at NSIT and DCE (Delhi College of Engineering). The examination is held on the third and fourth Sunday of May. The results will be declared within 15-20 days.
Currently, NSIT has the following branches at the undergraduate (B.E.) level:
The Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering follows a curriculum that provides many advantages to the student. The course consists of papers covering Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Control engineering.
The final two years are devoted almost entirely to advanced topics in Electronics and Communication Engineering such as Digital Signal Processing, Microwave engineering and Bipolar and MOS Analog IC design.
The Division of Computer Engineering is organised into various subgroups such as Microprocessor Applications and Microprocessor Systems, Computer Communications and networking, mini and mainframe systems, CAD/CAM, software support and development.
The curriculum of the undergraduate degree offered by the Instrumentation and Control Engineering division has many courses in common with Electronics and Computers, apart from several in process control and instrumentation.
The Division of Manufacturing and Automation engineering is taking efforts to develop some special laboratories to pursue research in thrust areas of Manufacturing Technology. The laboratories being developed are CAD/CAM/CAE Lab, Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Lab and a Central Workshop.
The Division of Information Technology was added in 2002-03. Modern art labs in the area of hardware software co-design, real-time systems, Web technologies and mobile computing are planned. The new unit to be opened is the Division of Biotechnology (in 2004-05 - intake of 20 students) and works under the School of Applied Sciences. The division is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory for experimental work.
