Cheer on the competitors at the eagerly – awaited Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The ceremony starts at 8.30 P.M. BST. If you’re watching at home, the coverage begins on Channel 4, More4 and Ch4 Paralympics 1 at 8.00 P.M.
Almost a month since the start of Olympic action, the eyes of the world will continue to be on London as the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Paralympic Games takes place in the Olympic Stadium.
Award – winning film director Stephen Daldry ( Billy Elliot ) heads the team behind the ceremony, which has a cast of over 3,000 volunteers, rehabilitating soldiers, children and professionals.
Called “Enlightenment”, the program celebrates the inclusivity of the Paralympics, including a fly past by “Aerobility” and incredible acrobatic performances on a 35 metre – high rig above the stadium floor.

Don’t miss the chance to spot your favourite athletes in the 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony Athletes’ Parade, with over 4,000 athletes from 162 nations.
Each country has its moment of glory however many ( or few ) athletes it has competing. So cheer on your country’s entrants as they take a lap of the Olympic Stadium’s track proudly holding their national flag.
The ceremony culminates in the lighting of the Paralympic Cauldron, which will burn throughout the Paralympic Games until 9th September 2012
