N Rangaswamy had taken over the chief minister ship of Puducherry for the first time in October 2001 from P Shanmugham. In India, he is the only chief minister who moves without security. Any person can catch up with him irrespective of any caste, creed or religion, in his house during his morning meetings.

This Indian politician is born on 4th August, 1950. N Rangaswamy got his education from the government school. From his student days, he entered into politics as a follower of K Kamaraj and an advocate of the poor.
Throughout his career, he has maintained a “Mr Honest” image. In the year 1990, he has failed in his inaugural attempt to enter the assembly. That time he contested from the Thattanchavadi constituency.
In the year 1996, Rangasamy was re-elected. N Rangaswamy became a minister again in the year 2000. In the following year`s election, he won by a huge margin and was subsequently appointed as the Minister for Public Works and Agriculture.
N Rangaswamy took entry in his second tenure as the chief minister in the year 2006. in that election his opponent could gather only 500 votes.
N Rangaswamy, for the first time became the Chief Minister that year, from the dominant Vanniyar or Vannia kula Kshatriyar Community of the Union Territory.
Rangasamy played an instrumental role in developing the union Territories Infrastructure on par with metros. In an survey conducted by `Indian Today` in the year 2006, Pondicherry ranked 1st among the best states to live in India, Literacy, women empowerment, infrastructure, roads, water all stood 1st among other states in India.
