Agricultural Seasons of  India

India is essentially an agricultural land. Two – thirds of its population still lives by agriculture.

Agriculture includes:
  1. Farming
  2. Animal rearing
  3. Fishing

 Kharif Season :

Crops are sown at the beginning of south – west monsoon and harvested at the end of the south – west monsoon. Sowing Season is from May to July. Harvesting Season is from September – October.

  • Cotton
  • Groundnut
  • Jute
  • Hemp
  • Tobacco


 Rabi Season

Crops need cool climate during growth period but warm climate during the germination of seeds and maturation. Sowing Season is from October to December. Harvesting Season is from April – May.
