Allahabad University Law Entrance Exam ( AUEE ) invites admission Application for LL.B programs for the academic session 2017 – 2018.

Allahabad University 2017 LLB Eligibility

Three Year Law Degree Course : An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for a three year’ degree’ program in law leading to conferment of LL.B, degree on successful completion of the regular program conducted by a University whose degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council or India for the purpose of enrolment.

Integrated Degree Program: An applicant who has successfully completed Senior Secondary School course ( ‘ +2’ ) or equivalent ( such as 11+1, ‘A’ level in Senior School Leaving Certificate course ) from a recognized University of India or outside or from a Senior Secondary Board or equivalent. constituted or recognized by the Union or by a State Government or from any equivalent institution from a foreign country recognized by the government of that country for the purpose of issue of qualifying certificate on successful completion of the course, may apply for and be admitted into the program of the Centre of Legal Education to obtain the integrated degree in law with a degree in any other subject as the first degree from the University whose such a degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council of India for the purpose or enrolment.

Provided that applicants who have obtained +2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the Integrated Five Years course or three years’ LL.B. Course, as the case may be. Explanation: The applicant who have obtained 10+2 or graduation / post graduation through open universities system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission in the law courses.

Minimum marks in qualifying examination for admission : Bar Council of India from time to time has stipulated the minimum percentage of marks not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicant, 42% for OBC category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST applicant, to be obtained for the qualifying examination. such as +2 Examination in case of Integrated Five Years’ course or Degree course in any discipline for Three years’ LL.B. Course for the purpose of applying for an getting admitted into a Law Degree Program of any recognized University in either of the streams.

Provided that such a minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a candidate to get admission into an University / Colleges but only shall entitle the person concerned to fulfill other criteria notified by the University / Colleges concerned or by the government concerned from time to time to apply far admission.

Allahabad University 2017 LLB Reservation of Seats

Reservation of seats available in LL.B.-I shall be made as under :

In accordance with provision of Section 9 of the University of Allahabad Act, 2005 ( Act No. 26 of 2005 ) seats shall be reserved for Scheduled Caste ( SC ) , Scheduled Tribe ( ST ) and Other Backward Classes ( OBC ) category candidates in all subject / course for which the Admission Test has been held, in accordance with following given as under:

  •  15 % of the total seats in each subject / course shall be reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste ( SC ) category;
  •  7.5 % of the total seats in each subject / course shall be reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe ( ST ) category; and
  •  27 % of the total seats in each subject / course shall be reserved for candidates belonging to Other Backward Caste ( OBC ) category.
  •  In case the seats reserved for Scheduled Tribe ( ST ) category candidates remain vacant on account of non-availability of candidates the same shall be filled by the candidates of Scheduled Caste ( SC ) candidates.
  • If eligible candidates belonging to the ST category are not available to fill any seat reserved for them under clause 5 ( ii ) above, such seat shall be filled by candidates belonging to the SC category. Reservation to candidates belonging to other backward classes ( OBC ) shall be given by the University as per Government of India guidelines, the Regulation / norms issued by the UGC and in accordance with the order / judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India or the Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad, in regard to the reservation of seats in admission to the LL.B Three Year Course.
  • Physically Challenged: “A candidate who has a certified disability of not less than 40 % in any limb or in orthopaedic structure which, in the opinion of the Medical Board ( constituted by the University of Allahabad ) , amounts to an overall physical handicap of not more than 70% or is a certified Visually impaired or a Hearing impaired, may be admitted to the concerned course / subject, irrespective of his position in the order of merit of the total aggregate score, on the recommendation of the Medical Board, subject to the condition that number of such candidates shall not exceed 3 % ( 1% Hearing impaired, 1 % visually impaired and 1 % Orthopaedic disability and cerebral palsy ) of the total seats in the respective course / subject.
  • The privilege shall not be given except claimed by the candidate at the time of application. At the time of admission the candidate shall be required to produce a certificate issued by the Chief Medical Officer of the appropriate District or by the Viklang Kendra, Allahabad, which testifies to his disability and bears an attested photograph indicating his / her disability clearly.
  • All candidates entitled to be admitted under the above quota to a course shall be adjusted against their respective social category.
  • Seats under physically handicapped quota shall be filled in order of preference given bellow:
    • Visually impaired
    • Hearing impaired
    • Orthopaedic disability
  • Seats of each category given in 2. ( I ) , ( II ) & ( III ) shall be filled on the basis of order of merit of the candidates in the Admission Test.”
  • Subject to the provision of Clause ( a ) above, where due to non availibility of eligible candidates any of the seats reserved for scheduled tribes ( ST ) remains unfilled, it shall be filled by a candidate of the scheduled caste category. The benefit of reservation for OBC candidate shall be given for admission in LL.B. Course of the Unviersity in accordance with guidelines issued by the Government of India and UGC Rules.
  •  If a candidate belonging to any of the categories mentioned in clause ( a ) gets selected for admission on the basis of merit with unreserved ( i.e. General ) category candidates, he shall not be adjusted against the seats reserved for the said categories under clause ( a ) .
  • No candidate shall be eligible for admission against the seats reserved for any of the categories specified in clause ( a ) except if he has duly claimed the concerned status in the Form and has submitted therewith evidence of holding a valid certificate to that effect, in the format approved for the purpose by the Central Government from a Competent Authority ( such as Tehsildar / Magistrate / Authorised Government Officer ) holding charge in the administrative unit to which the candidate belongs.
  • University Employees I Teachers: After the completion of admission on the sanctioned seats in each course of study, the sons and daughter of regularly appointed and retired teachers / employee of the University, the University Institutes, the constituents Colleges and constituents Institutes, on producing relevant certificate duly signed by the Registrar in case of University and University Institutes, the Principal in the case of constituent Colleges and the Director in case of constituent Institutes shall be admitted, on the basis of their relative scores against 5 % supernumerary seats ( with a minimum of one seat ) in each course of study, only in the unit / sub- unit in which such Teachers / Employees are serving or where from they have superannuated.
  • Provided further if in case seats remain vacant in a course in the unit / subunit, these will be filled by the wards of the employees of other units / subunits.

Allahabad University 2017 LLB Exam Pattern 

The Law Admission Test shall be of 2:00 hours duration. The test shall consist of 150 questions of 300 marks.

PART –  I : Language Comprehension :

This part shall consist of two sections. Coverning Hindi Language Comprehension and English Language Comprehension. Candidates are required to possess linguistic skills in both the languages of the level as is expected of a graduate student who has not had these as special subjects. In both the section, the test paper shall comprise passages for comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, words commonly confused, vocabulary, one-word substitution, spellings, idioms, phrases, syntax, grammer, knowledge of proverbs, figures of speech, legal terms and precis writing, They are required to be reasonably proficient in their knowledge of English Language. There shall be objective-type questions covering some or all the above mentioned areas.

PART – II : General Awareness & Current Affairs :

This paper shall consist of objective questions pertaining to General Awareness about the major facts relating to Indian & World History / Geography / Environment / Indian Culture; Indian National Movement / Science & Technology, Contemporary National / Regional / International Political & Economic Perspectives; International Organizations / Treaties etc. along with questions on General Knowledge of traditional nature.

PART – III : Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude :

  • Mental Ability and Logical / Mathematical analysis, deductive reasoning, odd even discretion, classification, logical fallacy, analogy, syllogism, Agreement and disagreement to judge the bent of mind of candidates. The question in legal Aptitude is related with constitution / legal system; constitutional / legal principles and practice etc.
  • If a candidate is found engaged in any verbal or other communication with, or obtains any material from any other candidate or person within or without the hall or place where he is seated for the Admission Test, or fails to comply with authoritative instructions, or initiates or participates in any intimidatory, violent or other conduct or activity which disturbs or disrupts the process of the Admission Test there or at other places, shall be punished for use of unfair means in the Test.
  • The candidates are suggested to opt the most appropriate answer in the multiple choice questions.

  • Minimum Qualifying Marks :For appearing in the Test a candidate has to compulsorily bring with him the Computerized Admit Card, The Admit Card has to be downloaded by the candidate himself from website http://aupravesh2017.cbtexam.in onwards. A candidate shall not be allowed to appear in the Admission Test if he does not bring with him the Computerized Admit Card.

All applicants belonging to General Category are required to attain 30% of the maximum marks of the respective test to qualify and to get admission in the course applied for. All applicants of OBC category are required to attain 27% of the maximum marks of the respective test to qualify and to get admission in the course applied for. However, there is no qualifying mark for SC / ST category students.

Deduction for Gap Year :

In order to give preference to fresh candidates i.e. who have appeared in final examination of B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. or have passed B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. in the current academic session i.e. 2016 – 2017, a deduction of 5% marks for each gap year shall be made for the standarized score on those who are not passouts of the current academic year 2016 – 2017, up to a maximum of 15% of the marks obtained in entrance test.

  • Every candidate shall, except those exempted from appearing in the Law Admission Test as per Rule 1 ( i ) and ( ii ) fill the online registration form on payment of prescribed fee within the dates prescribed and as per the Admission Notification and shall have to submit it Online ( after duly filling ) . Such a candidate shall have to appear in the Law Admission Test according to the schedule given in the end ofthis Prospectus from a Centre Allotted to him by the Admission Test Committee.
  • For candidates exempted from appearing in the Admission Test, there shall be a separate procedure to be notified later on by faculty of Law. There shall be a special process of application and admission for candidate exempted from appearing in the Admission Test, which shall be communicated separately by Faculty of Law.

  • SC /  ST and PH  candidates : Rupee 350/-

General Rules Regarding Application Forms :

  • The amount paid by the candidates to University for the Admission Test shall not be refunded or carried forward under any circumstance.
  • The candidates shall make all the required entries ( including his / her signature and photograph ) .
  • A candidate, who has made any false entry in the specified Application Form in online submitting form for appearing in the Admission Test and / or for admission, or has omitted, concealed or misrepresented any relevant fact therein or has submitted photograph other than his own shall forfeit the claim to be considered for admission and his admission shall be cancelled with retrospective effect.
  • The candidate shall be responsible for veracity of all entries in the online form submitted.
  • The acceptance of the online Admission Application Form of a candidate shall be provisional and shall not give him / her any guarantee or right of admission.
Allahabad University 2017 LLB Admission Procedure

Admission of eligible candidates to LL.B. Part I shall be made up to the limit of seats available and subject to special considerations permissible, on the basis of the order of merit of computed marks calculated according to Rule 07. The said order of merit shall be prepared separately for the candidates belonging to General, SC / ST and OBC categories. Candidates admitted under special consideration shall be accommodated against unreserved seats, or as the case may be SC or ST categories depending on their social status.

Note : The number of seats in the course is 300 for each unit ( University of Allahabad ) , C.M.P. Degree College and Allahabad Degree College ( A.D.C. ) . Number of seat may vary as per decision of B.C.I. Out of 300 seats 15 seats shall be filled by the wards of the teacher / employee of the University / Colleges in accordance as per the University Rules. The candidate admitted under EW / TW catogary shall be adjusted to their respective Social Catogary Admission to Allahabad University or a constituent college thereof shall be made by the process of counseling. The selected candidate must appear personally for counseling along with all the documents on the specified date, time and place.

Allahabad University 2017 LLM Eligibility

Eligibility Information :

  • The candidate must have obtained Law Graduate Degree from any University recognized by U.G.C. and the candidate should have obtained at least 45% marks in the aggregate in the said class candidates who have appeared in Law Graduate ( Final Year ) are also eligible to apply and appear in the LL.M. Admission Test – 2017. However such a candidate will have to produce his or her final year mark sheet as a proof of passing LL.B. ( Final Year ) examination on or before the date of admission, failing which their claim to admission shall stand forfeited.
  • For admission to LL.M. preference shall be given to fresh Law graduates ( i.e. candidates who have passed the qualifying law graduate examination for the immediately preceding academic year ) over law graduates of earlier years. Accumulative deduction at the rate of 5% of the marks obtained in the Entrance Test shall be made for every gap year in case of earlier Law graduates, subject to maximum deduction of 15%.
  • Prospectus / Forms are available Online only on the website aupravesh2017.cbtexam.in OR Admission – 2017 link of www.allduniv.ac.in for downloading and submission of form.
  • The Admission Test shall be conducted Online as well as Offline mode and shall have objective type / multiple choice questions only.
  • The Admission Test shall have 150 objective type / multiple choice questions and shall be of two hours duration. 
  • The question paper shall have 150 Objective type / multiple choice questions. The paper is divided into two parts, Part-A contains 50 Questions related to General Legal Awareness and Legal Aptitude & Part-B contains 100 questions related to the following subjects.
  • ( i ) Constitutional Law of India, ( ii ) Jurisprudence, ( iii ) Law of Contract / Mercantile Law,
  • ( iv ) Criminal Law, ( v ) Law of Torts. ( vi ) Hindu Law, ( vii ) Muslim Law, ( viii ) Public International Law and Human Rights, ( ix ) Labour Law, ( x ) Property Law.
  • Each objective type / multiple choice question shall carry Two Marks ( 2.0 ) only.
  • For each right answer the candidate shall be awarded Two Marks ( 2.0 ) whereas for each wrong answer Half Mark ( 0.5 ) shall be deducted.
  • The Admission shall be done in accordance with the uniform policy for P. G. Admissions – 2017 prevailing at the time of the admission.
  • The amount paid by the candidate to the University as the Registration / Test-fee will not be refunded or carried over under any circumstance.
  • The candidate shall fill all the required entries ( including his signature ) on the form otherwise the form shall be considered as incomplete and be liable to the rejected even after being received and processed by the University of Allahabad.
  • The candidate shall be responsible for the veracity of all the entries in the Registration Form.
  • Once a Form has duly been submitted to the University, the candidate shall not be entitled or permitted to make any addition, deletion or alteration in respect of any entry therein and the Form shall not be permitted to be transferred / used for any course other than LL.M.
  • Carrying any other material, except Admit-card and black / blue ballpoint pen, in the Examination hall shall be treated as unfair means.
  • The number of seats in the Course is 62 for Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad, 30 Seats for CMP Degree College and 30 seats for Allahabad Degree College respectively.
  • NCC Weightage: A weightage of 5 % shall be added to the score obtained by the candidate in the Admission Test / Entrance Test, who holds the ‘C’ certificate of the National Cadet Corps ( NCC ) .

  • All the candidates belonging to unreserved category are required to attain 30% of the maximum marks of the respective test to qualify and to get admission in the course applied for. All candidates of OBC category are require to attain 27% of the maximum marks of the respective test to qualify and to get admission in the course applied for. However, there is no qualifying marks for SC / ST candidates.

Allahabad University 2017 Law Eligibility Criteria

Students ( 1 ) who, at the time of joining the course of study in Law for a degree in law, have passed an examination in 10+2 or 11+1 course of schooling recognized by the Academic Council of the University or possess such academic qualifications which are considered equivalent to 10+2 or 11+1 courses by the Bar Council of India, and ( 2 ) . Who have secured 45% marks in case of general, 42% in case of OBC category and 40% for SC / ST, in the qualifying examination.

Allahabad University 2017 Law Reservation Seats

  • University Employees I Teachers: After the completion of admission on the sanctioned seats in each course of study, the sons and daughter of regularly appointed and retired teachers / employee of the University, the University Institutes, the constituents Colleges and constituents Institutes, on producing relevant certificate duly signed by the Registrar in case of University and University Institutes, the Principal in the case of constituent Colleges and the Director in case of constituent Institutes shall be admitted, on the basis of their relative scores against 5 % supernumerary seats ( with a minimum of one seat ) in each course of study, only in the unit / sub- unit in which such Teachers / Employees are serving or where from they have superannuated.Provided further if in case seats remain vacant in a course in the unit / subunit,these will be filled by the wards of the employees of other units / subunits.

Allahabad University 2017 Law Exam Pattern

  • Admission to this course will be done through an Entrance Test held at All India Level by the University as per the norms and guidelines set by the Bar Council of India by its rules and regulations. Admission test shall be of duration of Two hours and shall comprise three Parts each with a maximum of 100 marks. The papers shall be:
    • Language Comprehension: The questions set shall aim at testing the knowledge of the candidate in English and Hindi language particularly in English Grammar and Composition.
    • General Awareness and Current Affairs: The questions set shall aim at testing the general knowledge and awareness of the students about the current national and international affairs.
    • Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude: The questions set shall aim at testing reasoning power, the mental ability and the legal aptitude of the candidate.
  • B. There will be multiple choice questions in the Admission Test.

  • Every candidate seeking admission to the course is required to apply in the prescribed format within the time limit stipulated by the University.
  • The Number of seats in the course is 120 ( Number of seats may vary as per decision of BCI ) . Out of 120 seats 06 seats shall be filled by the ward of the Teacher / employee of the University in accordance by the University Rules. Admissions shall be done strictly in order of merit determined on the basis of the computed Test Score of the Candidates.
  • All applications for the Test shall be provisional. If the candidate has filled in any wrong information, his admission may be cancelled at any stage.

Note : The information provided and the data supplied by the applicant through Registration Application / Form shall be preserved in the University for a period of only six months from the date of the declaration of the result of Entrance / Admission Test. The records will be disposed off after the said period and no enquiry shall be entertained in this regard by the University after the expiry of the said period. The University shall use this data for various purposes; hence, in no case shall any change with be allowed at a later stage.

Therefore, all the information must be furnished correctly, completely and clearly by the applicant himself / herself as per the instructions given on the website upravesh2017.cbtexam.in or Admission – 2017 link of www.allduniv.ac.in.

The Evaluated OMR Answer Sheets / Answer Booklets will be preserved only for a period of six months after the declaration of results of Entrance / Admission Test. The records will be disposed off after the said period and no enquiry shall be entertained in this regard by the University after the expiry of the said period.

Process of Evaluation in the Test :

The paper is divided into three parts.

  • Part – I : ( Language Comprehension ) ,
  • Part – II : ( General Awareness and Current Affairs ) , and
  • Part – III : ( Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude ) .

Each will have 50 objective type questions of two marks each. For every correct answer 2 marks shall be awarded and for every wrong answer 0.5 marks will be deducted.The merit of candidates shall be prepared on the basis of computed marks obtained by the candidates in of the Test.

Note :

Minimum Qualifying Marks :

All applicants belonging to General Category are required to attain 30% of the maximum marks of the respective test to qualify and to get admission in the course applied for. All applicants of OBC category are required to attain 27% of the maximum marks of the respective test to qualify and to get admission in the course applied for. However, there is no qualifying mark for SC / ST category students.

Deduction for Gap Year :

In order to give preference to fresh candidates i.e. who have appeared in final examination of Intermediate or have passed Intermediate in the current academic session i.e. 2016 – 2017, a deduction of 5% marks for each gap year shall be made for the standardized score on those who are not pass outs of the current academic year 2016 – 2017, up to a maximum of 15% of the marks obtained in entrance test.

General Rules For Students :

  • LL.B. (Five Year) Integrated Course is a Regular and fulltime course and the students shall not be permitted to join any other course with it.
  • The medium of instruction shall be English and the students are required to answer the examination in English. Answer written in any other language shall be ignored in evaluation.
  • The students whose attendance in the prescribed subjects of Study, Seminar, Classes and Computer training or any other course prescribed in the semester falls short of the required 75% shall not be allowed to appear at the examinations.
  • The examination in each subject of study shall be in two parts:
    • The Internal Assessment and
    • The End Semester Written Examinations
  • Students found inadequately proficient in English Language may be required to improve their language after the First Semester Examination.
  • In case of shortage of attendance a letter may be sent to the guardian for instructing their wards to make up the attendance.
  • If a student absents himself from the classes continuously for seven days his name shall be struck off the Register.
  • Chewing of Tobacco, Pan-Masala, Gutkha etc. and smoking or indulging in any kind of intoxication in or outside the campus shall be dealt with strictly.
  • Students must note that they should not indulge in ragging in or outside the premises of the Law Faculty. In case of any complaint of ragging, the student complained against will face immediate suspension, enquiry and punishment which may extend up to expulsion from the University and lodging of criminal proceedings.
