Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad invites applications for admission to B.A. LL.B. ( Hons. ) Five Year Integrated Course for the Session 2016 – 17.
Allahabad University BA LLB Eligibility Criteria
Students who, at the time of joining the course of study in Law for a degree in law, have passed an examination in 10+2 or 11+1 course of schooling recognized by the Academic Council of the University or possess such academic qualifications which are considered equivalent to 10+2 or 11+1 courses by the Bar Council of India.
Students who have secured 45% marks in case of general, 42% in case of OBC category and 40% for SC / ST, in the qualifying examination.
Allahabad University BA LLB Seats
The Number of seats in the Allahabad University BA LLB course is 123 ( Number of seats may vary as per decision of BCI ).
Allahabad University BA LLB Admission test shall be of duration of Two and a half hours and shall comprise three papers each with a maximum of 100 marks. The papers shall be :
(i) Language Comprehension : The questions set shall aim at testing the knowledge of the candidate in English and Hindi language particularly in English Grammar and Composition. The question paper shall contain 80 questions relating to English language and 20 questions relating to Hindi language, and composition.
(ii) General Awareness and Current Affairs : The questions set shall aim at testing the general knowledge and awareness of the students about the current national and international affairs.
(iii) Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude : The questions set shall aim at testing reasoning power, the mental ability and the legal aptitude of the candidate.
Process of Evaluation in the Allahabad University BA LLB Test
Paper I ( Language Comprehension ) and Paper II ( General Awareness and Current Affairs ) each will have 100 objective type questions of one mark each. For every correct answer one mark shall be awarded and for every wrong answer 1/3 mark will be deducted.
Paper III ( Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude ) will have 50 objective type questions of two marks each. For every correct answer two marks will be awarded and for every wrong answer 2/3 marks will be deducted.
The merit of candidates shall be prepared on the basis of computed marks obtained by the candidates in all the three paper of the Test.
Allahabad University BA LLB Selection Process
Allahabad University Admission to BA LLB course will be done through an Entrance Test held at All India Level by the University as per the norms and guidelines set by the Bar Council of India by its rules and regulations.
Allahabad University BA LLB Admissions shall be done strictly in order of merit determined on the basis of the Test Score of the Candidates.
All applications for the Allahabad University BA LLB Test shall be provisional.
Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad invites applications for admission to LLB Three Year Course through Law Admission Test – LAT for the Session 2016 – 17.
Allahabad University LAT Eligibility
(a) Three Year Law Degree Course : An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for a three year’ degree’ program in law leading to conferment of LL.B, degree on successful completion of the regular program conducted by a University whose degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council or India for the purpose of enrolment.
(b) Integrated Degree Program : An applicant who has successfully completed Senior Secondary School course (‘ +2′) or equivalent ( such as 11+1, ‘A’ level in Senior School Leaving Certificate course ) from a recognized University of India or outside or from a Senior Secondary Board or equivalent. constituted or recognized by the Union or by a State Government or from any equivalent institution from a foreign country recognized by the government of that country for the purpose of issue of qualifying certificate on successful completion of the course, may apply for and be admitted into the program of the Centre of Legal Education to obtain the integrated degree in law with a degree in any other subject as the first degree from the University whose such a degree in law is recognized by the Bar Council of India for the purpose or enrolment.
Provided that applicants who have obtained +2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission in the Integrated Five Years course or three years’ LL.B. Course, as the case may be.
Explanation : The applicant who have obtained 10+2 or graduation / post graduation through open universities system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission in the law courses.
Minimum marks in qualifying examination for admission :
Bar Council of India may from time to time, stipulated the minimum percentage of marks not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category applicant, 42% for OBC category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST applicant, to be obtained for the qualifying examination. such as +2 Examination in case of Integrated Five Years’ course or Degree course in any discipline for Three years’ LL.B. Course for the purpose of applying for an getting admitted into a Law Degree Program of any recognized University in either of the streams. Provided that such a minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a person to get admission into an institution but only shall entitle the person concerned to fulfill other institutional criteria notified by the institution concerned or by the government concerned from time to time to apply far admission.
Allahabad University LAT Exam Pattern
The Allahabad University Law Admission Test shall be of 2:30 hours duration. The Allahabad University LAT test shall consist of Three Papers each of 100 marks, as mentioned below :
PAPER-I : Language Comprehension
This paper shall consist of two sections. While Section I will deal with Hindi Language comprehension, Section II will cover English Language. Maximum marks allotted to each section shall be 50. Candidates are required to possess linguistic skills in both the languages of the level as is expected of a graduate student who has not had these as special subjects. In both the section, the test paper shall comprise passages for comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, words commonly confused, vocabulary, one-word substitution, spellings, idioms, phrases, syntax, grammer, knowledge of proverbs, figures of speech, legal terms and precis writing, They are required to be reasonably proficient in their knowledge of English Language. There shall be objective type question covering some or all the above mentioned areas.
PAPER-II : General Awareness & Current Affairs
This paper shall consist of objective questions pertaining to General Awareness about the major facts relating to Indian & World History / Geography / Environment / Indian Culture; Indian National Movement / Constitution / Legal system; Constitutional principles & Practices, Science & Technology, Contemporary National / Regional / International Political & Economic Perspectives; International Organizations / Treaties etc. along with questions on General Knowledge of traditional nature.
PAPER-III : Reasoning & Mental Ability
Mental Ability and Logical / Mathematical analysis, deductive reasoning, odd even discretion, classification, logical fallacy, analogy, syllogism, Agreement and disagreement to judge the bent of mind of candidates.
Valuation Method :
The questions to Paper I ( Language Comprehension ) and Paper II ( General Awareness & Current Affairs ) are of 1 mark each and for every correct answer candidate shall be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong answer 1/3 of a mark will be deducted.
The question to Paper III ( Reasoning & Mental Ability ) are of 2 marks each. For every correct answer candidate will be provided 2 marks and for every wrong answer 2/3 of a mark will be deducted.
Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad invites applications for admission to LLM Two Year Course for the Session 2016 – 17.
Allahabad University LLM Eligibility
The candidate must have obtained Law Graduate Degree from any University recognized by U.G.C. and the candidate should have obtained at least 50% marks in the aggregate in the said class candidates who have appeared in Law Graduate ( Final Year ) are also eligible to apply and appear in the LL.M. Admission Test-2016. However such a candidate will have to produce his or her final year marksheet as a proof of passing LL.B. ( Final Year ) examination on or before the date of admission, failing which their claim to admission shall stand forfeited.
For admission to LL.M., preference shall be given to fresh Law graduates ( i.e. candidates who have passed the qualifying law graduate examination for the immediately preceding academic year ) over Law graduates of earlier years.
Minimum Qualification for Admission :
Accumulative discount at the rate of 5% of the Standardized Score shall be applied for every gap year in case of earlier Law graduates, subject to the maximum discount of 15%.
Admission to the LL.M. Degree Course of study shall be open to those candidates who have passed the Three Year LL.B. Degree Examination of this University or such Examination of any other University or Institution after Graduation under 10+2+3 pattern; or Five Year LL.B. Degree Course under 10+2+5 pattern as is recognized by this University / Bar Council of India as equivalent for the purpose of LL.M. Degree Course and have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate in the LL.B. Examinations.
The Faculty of Law shall be free to admit the students to LL.M. Degree Course as per the prevalent admission Regulations framed by the University.
Allahabad University LLM Exam Pattern
The Allahabad University LLM Entrance Exam shall be conducted online and shall have objective type / multiple choice questions only.
The Allahabad University LLM Entrance Exam shall have 150 objective type / multiple choice questions and shall be of two hours duration.
Each objective type / multiple choice questions shall carry three marks only. For each right answer the candidate shall be awarded three marks whereas for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.
The Allahabad University LLM question paper shall have two parts namely Part-A of 50 questions related to General Legal Awareness and Legal Aptitude; and Part-B of 100 questions related to the following subjects.
(i) Constitutional Law of India, (ii) Jurisprudence, (iii) Law of Contract / Mercantile Law, (iv) Criminal Law, (v) Law of Torts. (vi) Hindu Law, (vii) Muslim Law, (viii) Public International Law and Human Rights, (ix) Labour Law, (x) Property Law.
