Common Entrance Test - CET Law 2009 Eligibility


1. CET Law 2009 Eligibility

1.1 For admission to Five years B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), Five years B.A. LL.B. and Three years LL.B. coursesthrough CET-LAW 2009, 85 percent seats will be reserved for the residents of Punjab State and 15 percent seats will be open to all candidates of other states/UTs on All-India basis.

1.2 The residence condition of Punjab candidates as given in 1.1 above will be determined in terms of the instructions issued by the Government of Punjab, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Personnel Policies Branch) in their circular letter No. 1/3/ 95-3PP-II-9619 dated 6.6.96 and 1/3/95-3PPII/80 dated 1.1.1999.

1.3 Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination and whose result has not been declared, may be allowed to appear provisionally in the Entrance Test at their own risk and responsibility. Their candidature for admission to above Law courses shall be considered only if they submit a duly attested copy of the detailed marks card/requisite certificate in original (stating the marks obtained) of the qualifying examination at the time of counselling.

1.4 The candidature of all the candidates to the Entrance Test shall be purely provisional. If on verification at a later stage, it is found that a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility conditions, his/her candidature will be cancelled and he/she will have no claim whatsoever against the University/College. The candidates are, therefore, advised in their own interest to go through the eligibility conditions carefully and make sure of their eligibility before appearing in the examination.

2. CET Law 2009 Educational Qualification

1.1 Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and institutions affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Three Years LL.B. Course

Bachelor degree of Guru Nanak Dev University or a degree recognized as equivalent with atleast 45% marks in aggregate (40% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) The candidates should not have completed the age of 30 years (35years in case of SC/ST and Backward classes) on the First of July of the year of admission.

Five Years B.A. LL.B Course

(a) 10+2 examination of Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent examination recognised as such by the University with at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates)

(b) The candidates should not have completed the age of 20 years (22 years in case of SC/ST and backward classes) on the first of July of the year of admission.

Five Years B.A. LL.B. (Hons. School) Course

(a) 10+2 examination of Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent examination recognised as such by the University with at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST candidates).

(b) The candidates should not have completed the age of 20 years (22 years in case of SC/ST and backward classes) on the first of July of the year of admission.

1.2 Punjabi University and institutions affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala.

Three Years LL.B. Course

Graduation/Post-graduation in any faculty from Punjabi University, Patiala or any equivalent examination from any other statutory university by securing at least 45% marks. In case of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and Physically handicapped candidates with at least 40% marks.

Five Years B.A., LL.B. Course

(a) 10+2 examination of the Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent examination recognised as such by the Punjabi University, Patiala, with at least 45% marks. In case of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and Physically handicapped candidates with at least 40% marks.

(b) He/She should not have completed the age of 21 years on 1st July, 2009.

1.3 Panjab University, Chandigarh.

B.A., L.L.B. (Hons.) 5 Years Integrated Course

a) 10+2 Examination of Punjab or Haryana Board of School Education/CBSE/ICSE or any other Board/University recognized as equivalent to it with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of SC/ST).

b) The candidate must not be above 20 years of age as on 1st August of the year in which admission is sought to the First Semester (22 years in case of SC/ST).

LL.B. (3 Year-Degree Course)

a) A Bachelor's degree in any faculty of Panjab University with at least 45% of the aggregate marks. (40% for SC/ST candidates) OR

b) A Bachelor's degree in any faculty of any other University recognized as equivalent to the corresponding degree of the Panjab University, with at least 45% of the aggregate marks. (40% for SC/ST candidates)

Provided that in case of candidates having Bachelor's degree of the University or any other University recognized by the Syndicate through Modern Indian Languages (Hindi or Urdu or Punjabi/Gurmukhi Script) and or in a classical language (Sanskrit or Persian or Arabic) the aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ ST candidates) marks shall be calculated by taking into account the percentage of aggregate marks that he/ she had secured at the language examination, excluding the marks for the additional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together. OR

c) A Master's degree from the Panjab University.

d) A Master's degree from any other University recognized as equivalent to the Master's degree of the Panjab University.

Note: Eligibility regarding educational qualification for admission to the above courses in affiliated Colleges with Panjab University, Chandigarh as per latest regulations of the Bar Council of India is under consideration of the Panjab University and same will be decided before counselling.
