Invites application for admission to the following programme commencing from June, 2007

Postgraduate programme in computer aided management (PGDCM) fourteenth Session, 2007 – 2009

Objective:

To empower budding managers with the ability to play a meaningful role in the information economy. This course is intended for managers who dare the challenge to absorb the rapid changes in information and communication technologies (ICT) and leverage them within their functional areas of operation. The proliferation of ICT in every sphere of life inspired IIMC to introduce this unique programme as early as in 1994. Since its inception, PGDCM programme has been highly appreciated by the industry, which is reflected by its tremendous success in placement both in terms of type of job offers, domestic and international, in different sectors of business and the compensation packages they could command. The program has been constantly updated keeping in tune with the changes in the technologies.

Students are required to take courses in ICT and ARE finance, marketing, strategy, economics, organizational behavior, human resource management, business environments, legal systems and operation management. Significant inputs in IT/IS along with the functional areas of management as well as fundamental concepts in quantitative methods enable a manager to effectively apply IT to complex planning and decision situation in the management process in business and industry a well as in social sector. In other words, students learn how to manage the technology in general and ICT in particular. It also helps students develop careers such as business analyst, project or product managers, software developer or entrepreneur in their initial stages of growth. These would be managers will be an important driving force behind the worldwide transition towards the emerging knowledge economy.

Eligibility:

The eligibility criteria are the same as that for PGDM programme. The candidate must hold a bachelors degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA of any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institution established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the ministry of HRD, government of India. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling or equivalent. Candidates appearing for the final bachelors degree / equivalent qualification examination can also apply provided they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2007 from the principal / registrar of their college / institute stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelors degree / equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. Selection:

Selection will be based on performance in the CAT 2006, performance in aptitude test in maths, performance in group discussion and personal interview, relevant work experience and past scholastic achievement;

How to apply:

A candidate is required to send a crossed DD for Rs. 600/- in favour of Indian institute of management calcutta payable in Kolkata by November 10, 2006 along with the following details: name of the candidate, CAT application number or test registration number, email address, complete address and telephone number. Alternatively, the candidates can also downloaded the application form from our website and send the same filled in along with the DD of Rs.600/- as stated above. For further details, kindly refer to CAT 2006 bulletin. PGDCM applicants to be short-listed for group discussion and personal interview based on CAT performance will be required to appear for the aptitude test in maths. Sample questions of ATM will be sent to the applicants in due course. The CAT admits card must be preserved for ATM to be held just prior to personal interview. The completed PGDCM application form must reach the admissions office of IIM Calcutta latest by November 10, 2006.
