Karnataka PGCET 2013 Entrance Exam
Karnataka Government has authorized Karnataka Examinations Authority to conduct Post Graduate Common Entrance Test for admission to MBA / MCA / M.E. / M.Tech MBA ( Infrastructure Management ) programs for the year 2013 – 2014 in the state of Karnataka.
Pursuant to the said notification, applications are invited from the eligible interested Karnataka and non-Karnataka candidates for admission to 1st year / 1st semester full time part time MBA / M.E./ M.Tech. / M.Arch / MBA ( Infrastructure Management ) programs and full time MCA course in the institutions affiliated to Universities which will be notified by the Government of Karnataka for the year 2013 – 2014.
Candidates have to appear for the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test 2013 conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority to become eligible for admission to these courses. However, the non-Karnataka students are eligible to select only the seats surrendered by the management, if any.
Note : The candidates with valid GATE score need not appear for PGCET 2013 Karnataka Entrance Exam for admission to ME / MTech / MArch / MBA ( Infrastructure Management ) courses, but they have to procure and submit the filled application form for admission.
Seat Matrix and Fee structure : The list of colleges along with seat matrix and fee to be paid for the academic year 2013 – 2014 will be published in the KEA Website : http://kea.kar.nic.in as notified by the Government of Karnataka one week before the commencement of seat selection process.

Karnataka PGCET 2013 Eligibility
Karnataka PGCET MBA
Full Time MBA Courses : A candidate who has passed any under graduate examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MBA courses. 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates.
Part Time MBA courses : A candidate who has passed any under graduate examination of minimum of 3 years or equivalent examination ( herein after referred to as the “qualifying examination” or “Q. E.” in short ) and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects for all the years is eligible for admission to MBA courses. 45% of marks in Q.E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates.
In addition to this a candidate after obtaining the degree, must have worked for not less than three years before the issue of the notification for the relevant year, in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission.
Karnataka PGCET MCA
A candidate who has passed any under graduate examination of minimum of 3 years or equivalent examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Applications or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects for all the years is eligible for admission to MCA courses, 45% of marks in Q.E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates.
Provided that in respect of candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified above in Pre – University Course with fifty percent of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission, 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates.
Karnataka PGCET M.E. / M.Tech / M.Arch / MBA ( Infrastructure Management ) Courses
Full Time M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch / MBA ( Infrastructure Management ); Courses :
- A candidate with valid GATE score as defined in item 18 of the application form.
- A candidate who has passed prescribed qualifying examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years / semesters of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to M.E. / M.Tech / M.Arch / MBA ( Infrastructure Management ) courses. 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates.
Part Time M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch / MBA ( Infrastructure Management ) Courses :
A candidate who has passed prescribed qualifying examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects for all the years is eligible for admission to M.E. / M. Tech / M. Arch / MBA ( Infrastructure Management ) courses. 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates.
In addition to this candidate after obtaining the degree, must have worked for not less than three years before the issue of notification for the relevant year, in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission.
Based on the performance of the candidates in the Common Entrance Test, the rank list will be prepared and published for admission to the above courses. Therefore, the candidates are advised to attend the counseling only if they have the requisite percentage of marks in the qualifying examination as specified above. Mere publication of the rank list shall not entitle a candidate to appear for the counseling.
Note : Candidates who do not pass in all the subjects in the qualifying examination and candidates who do not possess the academic eligibility detailed above for various courses, will not be eligible for selection of seats in the respective courses in the counseling.
The SC / ST / Category – I / OBC eligibility criteria are applicable to persons of Karnataka origin who claim eligibility for Government seats under clauses (a) and (b) and the same is not applicable to non – Karnataka students.
Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks but also a candidate who has appeared / is appearing for the Q.E. and expecting the results is eligible to apply for the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test 2013.
