1. Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences conducts All India Common Entrance Test (AICET) to admit students for various courses offered by the University for the academic year 2008-09, will conduct AICET for admission to M.B.B.S and B.D.S courses in the month of May 2008. The All India Common Entrance Test (AICET) - 2008 will be conducted at various places in India for selection of candidates for admission to courses mentioned above and offered by the constituent colleges of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences viz Rural Medical College and Rural Dental College. Date & Time of Entrance Test Examination: Saturday, 3rd May, 2008 from 3.00 PM to 6.00 PM Intake Capacity The intake capacity for various courses as approved by the respective councils is given in the Table. |
Duration of Course:
The medium of instruction for all courses is English. The duration of the course is as specified by the respective councils and UGC. 2. Mode of Entrance Test: The AICET - 2008 will be of three hours duration. There will be one question paper for the CET consisting 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQ’s), 50 each in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each correct answer carries one mark. There is no negative marking. Other details regarding syllabus, model question paper, specimen answer sheet, method of marking answers etc. are given separately in this Prospectus. 3. Date and Time of PIMS - AICET - 2008 The AICET - 2008 will be conducted on Saturday, 3rd May, 2008 from 3.00 PM to 6.00 PM. at the designated centers. 4. Distribution of Seats: The distribution of seats will be as follows : a. General Category: 85 % seats of each course are in this category. The admission to this category will be made on the basis of interse- merit of the candidates at AICET – 2008 test. b. FN (Foreign Nationals) / PIO(Person of Indian Origin) / NRI(Non-Resident Indians) Category : 15 % seats of each course are in this category. The Foreign National (FN), wards of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) settled abroad and wards of Non Resident Indians (NRI) shall be considered for admissions in this category. Preference will be given to the foreign nationals and wards of PIO. The merit of candidates seeking admission in FN /PIO/NRI category shall be decided by the University taking into consideration equivalence and recognition of the examination passed by the candidate and his academic performance i.e. marks / grade obtained by him in Physics, Chemistry and Biology(Botany and Zoology)subjects. The candidates in FN / PIO/ NRI category will be required to submit a separate application form which can be obtained from the Registrar, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences. If the Seats in FN/PIO/NRI Category remain vacant, these will be filled from the Indian Nationals on the basis of their merit. They will however have to pay the fee as per norms for FN/PIO/NRI.
