22 Scholars selected for “Certificate of Honour” in the field of Sanskrit

Twenty-two scholars have been selected for the “certificate of honour” in recognition of their contribution in the field of Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic and Persian.

The distinction is conferred by President every year on Independence Day.

Sanskrit scholars who have been selected are: K. Hayavadana Puranik, Vishnubhatla Subrahamanya Sastry, Uma Ramana Jha, Aruna Goel, Nar Deo Shastri, M.E. Rangachar, Keshavrao Musalgaonkar and Saroja Bhate.

Baikuntha Bihari Nanda, Satya Narayan Shastri, Ananthakrishnan Sivaramakrishna Sastry, Janardan Pandey, Purushottama Tripathi, Bhabani Prasad Bhattacharya and Sitanath Acharya are the other Sanskrit scholars.

While Gukul Chandra Jain has been chosen for Pali/ Prakrit section, Zohurul Bari Azmi, Muhammad Burhanuddin Sambhali and Taqi Ud Din Nadwi would be honoured for their contributions to the Arabic language.

Idris Ahmad, Syeda Bilqis Fatima Husaini and Marghoob Banihali have been selected under the Persian language category.

The Maharshi Badarayan Vyas Samman will be conferred on Sanskrit scholar K. Ramasubramanian. – PTI
