93 candidates fet offer letters at TNAU Job Fair
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) organised a job fair on March 13 and 14 for graduates of the university and its constituent colleges.
As many as 14 companies from finance, sugar, and agriculture sectors, non-Governmental organisations, and Government agencies, were present to select graduates for their human resource needs.
Nearly 450 candidates participated. As many as 287 were short-listed and after the written test, group discussion and interviews, 93 were given appointment letters.
Alongside the job fair, a career guidance workshop was also conducted at the university.
Inaugurating the workshop, Jose T. Mathew, Principal, Central Academy for State Forest Service, told the candidates about the various options available and urged them to be ethical in their work.
P. Murugesa Boopathi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, spoke on the competitive edge the farm graduates had and stressed that their professional excellence should be utilised in promoting the farming community.
He also released a book on Career Guidance for Agricultural Graduates.
Resource persons from various institutions and departments spoke to the students on options available in other related sectors and also on preparing for the Civil Services examination. B. Balamurugan, Passport Officer, Regional Passport Office, Coimbatore, was the chief guest for the valediction. He stressed the need for joint and progressive farming, and also urged the farm graduates to make at least one attempt at the Civil Services Examination.
