Anna University, Coimbatore, will offer as part of its outreach programmes, undergraduate, post-graduate and management courses to employees of government, public sector and private organisations. This will enable them to pursue higher studies while in service.
Some of the courses proposed are B.E. and M.E. in Mining Engineering, M.E. in Energy Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Signals and Systems and Environmental Sciences.
A Centre for Outreach Education Programme is proposed to be created at the university for the purpose.
According to Vice-Chancellor R. Radhakrishnan, the programmes will be offered to the staff at their own work premises on a revenue- sharing basis, based on the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding that would be signed. Mr. Radhakrishnan told The Hindu:
