Bangalore University Writes to Visvesvaraya Technological University

Bangalore: Bangalore University has written to Visvesvaraya Technological University again not to insist on marks cards during the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) counselling as results of fourth and semesters have not been declared.

The registrar dashed off the note on Friday after students complained that VTU staff has been insisting on marks cards during the counselling for MBA and MCA. The students fear that if they miss the general vacancy round of counselling, they might have to appear for the casual vacancy round.

“If we are selected in the general vacancy round then we have to pay merely Rs 50,000 a year but under the casual vacancy round, the fee will be not less than Rs 2.5 lakh,” students pointed out. BU Registrar Sanjay Veer Singh said he had a discussion with the VTU registrar Dr Shiv Kumar in this regard.

Dr Shiv Kumar said students, whose results had not been announced, have been permitted to attend counselling. He said, he is aware of the problem faced by the students.

“Because of this problem we postponed the counselling for a week,” said Dr Shiv Kumar. He added that students facing any kind of problem can contact the PGCET Cell at 0831-2498121, 2498122, 2405468 or 2498204.
