Bannari Amman Institute of Technology inks MoU with Biotech Company
Sathyamangalam: Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT) has linked an agreement with Helix Infosystems, Chennai, to train its biotechnology students in real-time projects in bio-informatics.
The MoU, according N.S. Vasanthi, Head of Biotechnology, will help the students gain practical knowledge in bio-informatics and enable them to work on projects as well.
At present, the students have a paper on the subject, who is theoretical, through, “There is very little practical side to the course,” she says.
Though the finer details are yet to be worked out, she says the company staff will train students after, which they will handover either modules or a considerable portion of their projects for students to work on.
Academic project
The assignments that the final year students will work will also double-up as their four-month academic project that they carry out in their last semester.
The college is taking to another company for collaboration in biotechnology. A MoU with the company may soon be signed, she says.
