Coimbatore: The Bharathiar University (BU) has approved the NIFT-TEA Knitwear Fashion Institute of Tirupur to offer eight job-oriented under graduate, post-graduate and diploma courses for the benefit of knitwear industry.

This was enabled by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the BU and NIFT-TEA under the University Industry Interaction and Consultancy Service Centre (UIICSC) here on Thursday.

The courses will be B.Sc. Apparel Fashion Design, B.Sc. Garment Production and Processing, BBA Apparel Manufacturing and Merchandising, BBA Fashion Apparel Merchandising, M.Sc Apparel Production, MBA Apparel Business, Diploma in Apparel Merchandising and Management and Diploma in Garment Manufacturing and Merchandising. Vice-Chancellor of BU Prof G Thirvasagam, during a discussion, proposed to the Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) to establish R&D Centre of Knitwear Industry at the varsity, sponsored by TEA.
