"The university will serve as a role model for the colleges to follow suit", Vice-Chancellor G, Thiruvasagsam told The Hindu.

"The university has introduced many new courses in its departments. Tuition fee for courses like M.Sc Nano Science and Technology and similar other courses are very high.

A deserving candidate can make use of the facility and pursue such a course at the university at no cost More students from poor families will benefit from this", said Dr. Thiruvasagam.

Counselling to select 20 candidates for various departments would be held at the university.
