Chartered Accountancy Course comes closer to Plus 2 Students
Coimbatore: Now the Plus 2 students can opt for Chartered Accountancy (CA) course by clearing the single Common Proficiency Test (CPT).
“Earlier, the Plus 2 students had to pass two proficiency exams to get selected for the course. Under the new system, which came into effect recently, they can clear it in just one CPT,” said G Ramaswamy, Central Council Member of The Institute of Charted Accountants of India, which offers the course, in a press conference here today.
He said that even those students who had completed 10th standard could register for the CA course. Study to them and they could write the CPT after completing Plus 2.
After the completion of CPT, students would undergo a three-and-a-half-year article ship with a practicing charted accountant.
Indicating a bright future for CAs, Ramaswamy said. “While the corporates in our country needs around 1.5 lakh CAs, there will be need for 3 lakh CAs across the world in the next five years”.
Their salaries would range from Rs.5 lakh to Rs.24 lakh a year. In some cases, it could be go up to Rs.38 lakh, he added.
For the course, entrance exams will be held every three months. The fee is Rs.17,500. During the article ship the students will get stipend.
Jointly addressing the media, Jaydeep Narendra Shah, Central Council Members, Chairman of Board of Studies of the Institute, said that the students would undergo a 100 hours compulsory computer training programme also.
“In a significant feature, an articled trainee (of CA) can join B.Com with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) by paying Rs.4,000 can appear for B.Com exam after the first year of article ship,” he said and added that this became possible with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Institute and IGNOU.
Today, the Coimbatore Branch of Southern India Regional Council to The Institute of Charted Accountants of India organized a career counseling programme for students at its office at RS Puram, where the parents also attended.
