Chennai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has begun its probe into the leakage of question paper for the examination to select police constables held in 2005.
The agency has so far examined 20 persons. While one round of examination of witness has been completed in Madurai district, a similar exercise will be undertaken in other districts wherever necessary, a CBI source has said.

It has re-registered the FIR for offences under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy); 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment); 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc.); 166 (public servant disobeying law, with intent to cause injury to any person); and 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent) IPC; and 13 (1) (c) and (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Around 85 persons have been cited as accused.
The question paper for the selection of 1,997 Grade-II police constables was leaked twice; when it was conducted in March 205 and in June the same year.
The case was handed over the CBI on the orders of the Madras High Court, on a petition filled by a candidate belonging to Vellore district.
