Career Guidance Programme at Manjeri Today

The Hindu-EducationPlus will hold the sixth and last event of the pre-counselling guidance-cum-orientation programme series this year in Manjeri on Thursday. The Hindu is returning to Manjeri with its educational programme after four years.

The first pre-counselling programme held in the town in 2006 had evoked an enthusiastic response from students and parents. The programme starts at 9 a.m. Students and parents can register themselves for the event at the venue, Woodbine Auditorium, from 8.15 a.m. The registration fee is Rs.50.

The programme, titled “Courses & Choices – Sessions on the Professional Streams and More,” will offer an overview of the professional education scene and will help students and parents take informed decisions during admission to professional courses through the State government’s online Centralised Allotment Process.

Panel of Experts

A panel of experts will make presentations on an array of courses and career options, and will offer guidance on strategies to be adopted during the online seat allotment process.

K.P. Abdul Vahab, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Gynaecology, M.E.S. Medical College, Perinthalmanna, will speak on medical education.

Kishan Kumar of ‘Konfidence’ will speak on the approach students can adopt while selecting engineering course-and-college combinations.

B.S. Warrier, education expert, will present an overview of courses in the professional stream, and also outline the steps involved in the online allotment process. This will be followed by a Q&A session where students can get their doubts cleared.

A handbook with detailed information on courses will be provided to each participant. The State Bank of Travancore is the title sponsor of the guidance series. The Cooperative Academy of Professional Education and ShadWell’S are the associate sponsors.
