Chennai: As part of its initiative to bridge the gap between academia and industry, Anna University of Coimbatore is planning to have an academic tie-up with IBM, said R Radhakrishnan, vice-chancellor of the university.
Speaking to reporters to announce an MoU signed by the university with Infospectrum India to train management students in SAP Business One software certification, on Wednesday, Radhakrishan, said that the details of the tie-up with IBM would be decided after meeting the company officials in USA. The vice-chancellor is expected to travel to USA soon.
The agreement was being chalked out as part of plans to outsource curriculum, he said and added that IBM would design industry-specific curriculum for Masters in Engineering (ME) and Masters in Technology (M Tech) courses. Such outsourcing would be symbiotic and expose students to the needs of the industry, he added.
The university was also planning to include Business English Certification (BEC) of Cambridge University to develop soft skills of engineering students, Radhakrishnan added.
