Bangalore: Education is an indispensable sector and the quality of services offered, directly affects the quality of human resources. S.K. Kakkar, principal counsellor and head, Confederation of Indian Industries Institute of Quality (CII-IQ), said that in the mid 1990s, CII felt that the education sector was not very responsive to the changes in the environment.
"There was a big gap between what the stakeholders wanted and what the sector was delivering.
We then took it upon ourselves to create awareness among educationists about the need to bring in quality, both in terms of curriculum and management," he further said.
He said that in this regard, CII-IQ began to offer training and consultancy services on "Total Quality Management in Education" to various educational institutions.
