EAMCET Counselling for MBBS and BDS commences from 25th July
All candidates will be called in the first phase and reserved candidates will be covered in the second phase from 29th July, 2010 to 31st July, 2010.
Application not Necessary
It is not necessary to submit an application for the counselling, as it will be based only on the ranks obtained by the respective candidates in EAMCET. OC candidates should have secured not less than 50 per cent of marks in EAMCET and Intermediate for eligibility.
Dr. Rao said this year onwards, one year compulsory rural service was made for all students securing admission into MBBS courses and they would have to agree to do this after internship.
This had been made mandatory to familiarise medicos with the health policies of the State and also bridge the gap between training and goals of the medical education.
Honorarium would be paid during the rural service.
Counselling would be held at JNTU – H, Kukatpally; Andhra University campus in Visakhapatnam; Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada; and S.V. University in Tirupati. In all, there were nearly 3,180 seats to be filled up in the MBBS category and 1,056 in respect of BDS.
Dr. Rao said admissions into 100 seats each in the three new medical colleges would not be held in the first phase of counselling, as some clearances were pending.
A decision would be taken soon whether to include them in the second phase or not. The same would be the case with the additional 50 seats to be sanctioned for Bhaskara Medical College in Konaseema.
