Grant for research on Nilgiri Tahr

UGC has sanctioned Rs.60, 000

Coimbatore: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has sanctioned Rs.60, 000 to Dr.M.Lekshmanaswamy, Reader in Zoology, and A.A.Sivamumar, Principal, Kongu nadu Arts and Science College, to conduct research studies on the Nilgiri Tahr.

The studies would include the habitat, feeling habits and predators of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and also methods of conservation, a release from the college said.

Objective

The main objective of the study would be to find solutions to protect the animal in the wild condition, the release added.
