As per the plan, 25 students, who pursue professional courses, will get Rs 25,000 a year till they complete their studies, another 25 students, who pursue teaching / nursing courses, will get Rs 5,000 for two years, while 50 students, who get admitted to arts and science stream, will receive Rs 3,000 for three years.
After the DMK-led Government was sworn in during 1996, a major thrust was given to education in the civic schools, which was not worthy to mention in those days, Stalin said.
"With the coordination of officials we could meet the challenges and reach great heights," the Minister added. He expressed happiness on the projects being implemented by the civic body for the betterment of education in corporation schools.
"The assistance should be considered as incentives and not financial help. The scheme will be extended to all local bodies in the State in the future Stalin said.
