ICFAI Society gets no approval from AICTE

The activities of the ICFAI Society, Hyderabad, does not warrant any approval from the AICTE or for that matter any other statutory authority the Society said in its counter-affidavit filed in the Madras High Court on Thursday The counter was filed in reponse to a public interest writ petition from BN Devados of Chennai, seeking to close down ICFAI’s centres in TN and other States.

The counter said that ICFAI was not offering any course and conferring any degree.

It was offering only information, counselling or tuition in the nature of basic aid to those candidates who desired to appear as private candidates of various Universities as per the University Rules and Regulations.

Hence, any venture to implicate or bring ICFAI within the purview of the AICTE Act and its regulations would be an absolute illegality and beyond the scope of the Act and also opposed to Article 19(1) (g) of the Constitution in inasmuch as it, as a legal entity, was entitled to impart education in the shape of providing assistance to the students, the counter added.
